MX companies I should support.

Edited Date/Time 9/10/2022 6:06pm
The Fox deal got me thinking about what MX companies are still run by people who are "invested" in the sport. I've been a diehard Fox and Oakley user since the Bradshaw-Matiasevich days, or I should say the Geoff Fox and Jim Jannard days. But I would like to support companies that are run by people who have heard of motocross if possible.

What companies should I give my hard earned money to?

Fair question. Curious what shows up as invested in the sport.

O’Neal sponsors a lot of amateurs.
Canvas mx
Fast house
AOT Racing
Troy lee designs
6d just because they are pushing the science of head protection further.

This tells you the backstory. Milt (the owner) still rides, has qualified for lorettas last year and this year. He owns a private track up in Minnesota. I guess Dungey has been riding there a lot and prepping for his return there. They keep investing more and more into the sport every year and it’s still owned and ran by milt. Really good people from milt all the way down the line.

Muc-Off is the only motocross focused chemical company that does not test their products on animals. They are also actively using less and less plastic in their products and packaging.

Not going to name the company, but one of their competitors lists what they do (forced inhalation, forced feeding, and eye and skin tests on mice, rats, rabbits, and guinea pigs) right on their product pages in the safety sheets section. Really messed up stuff.

Them and Fasthouse seem to be the most popular whenever I’m at the track.

I would say Klim because I know they are riders but both snaps on the waistline of my new pants won't stay snapped so they need to get back to basics. Never had a problem with any TLD gear which is my other go-to brand. Also 6D because I believe in their tech and I've have had some big hits to the head and so far so good. All three companies are really good for the sport IMO.

FXR and O’Neal support the sport.
A’ME Grips are still Made in the USA and offer both Moto and MTB grips.
6D Helmets pushed everyone else lightyears ahead.
Works Connection have been putting out quality bits for years, and the new Elite bearing throttle tube is one of my current favorites.
100% and EKS seem like solid google/glasses Co’s.
Been wearing Pod knee braces for awhile, but Asterisk was always a good choice as well.
Gaerne boots are top-notch.
Your local suspension shop is always an underrated asset.
Luxon and Xtrig continually impress and pump out some extraordinary parts.

So many good options within this niche sport of ours!

You're the first person I've heard mention AME grips since I was a kid. I used to run those on my bmx bike. Just looked at their website and they're still using that same triangle pattern that they were using in the 80s. Very cool.

I did, too. Those were the grips to have back in the 80s, along with Sunline rims and snake belly tires.

I tried to support Twisted Tea when I went to a concert back in March. Went to the concession stand to get a beer. Saw they had cans of Twisted and I decided to give it a try. Holy cow, took one sip and threw it away. That was an expensive sip at arena prices.

Klim is owned by Polaris, along with 4 wheel Parts, Timbersled, and 509.

Because I don’t want to pick on one company in particular when all other chemical companies aside from muc-off are also doing it.

I’m gonna throw a vote in for ARC here. I had a bolt back out of a lever. Called to get a replacement. Guy who answered I actually think was the owner maybe, and advised me to loctite it as they had it happen a few times. Had the part the next week. I would also add 6D as well. Have dealt with them for a crash my son had and they were on point looking over it and getting us new stuff. We tried some other brands but always go back to them for their product and service. Good people. Regarding FXR, I dig their gear and my son is bugging for us to change to them but almost everyone is wearing their stuff now!

Also, Enjoy MFG for graphics and seat covers. We support 11 MXGP a couple pro US guys, Graham Jarvis, Mike Brown and some amateurs. I personally work and help manage it. The owner and I go on riding trips 1-2 times a year for some enduro riding.

Ditto on your local tracks, Now more than ever. Can’t imagine what their costs to operate have risen to.

That's pretty sad, but not surprising. Muc-Off for me from now on.
