Seems like a good idea for Yamaha to show the 2023 model sooner vs later.... as people start making their buying decisions for their next bike once the competition reveals their new models.

Just a thought.... )

Yea it’s time for a new bike, so many options nowadays, I’d like to know what Yamaha has up there sleeve, before I get something else, but not sure I want to wait that long!

Surprised that this has been so tight and no spy photos or leaks. Maybe its because the 2023 is only BNG??

Heard Keefer mention he thinks the 450 will be all new and the 250 will be the same? Think Tomac is racing the world Supercross to “test” the new bike before next year?

It's definitely all new and I've heard some riding related comments and just verbal comments on changes but they've done a very good job keeping it under wraps so far.

'23 = lighter, narrower, shorter, nimble......MXA's wish list has been met Smile

BBP may sweep SX and MX title this year. '22 bike is very good! Looking forward to seeing and riding the '23.

If I was a decision maker at Yamaha... I'd stop with the games and get the info out ASAP. This is what we have been working on and have.... XYZ... etc

The "games" don't help..... best to just be forthright. )

Agreed, you'd figure even just a "leaked" (by Yamaha, on purpose) spy shot or render of some description would do wonders for people's interest, before they just run out and buy a Honda or Kawi instead.

Keefer says it will be late this year. What is point not telling release date for Yamaha? This years models are sold out and dealers cant get new ones(or current ones).. just cant understand how it will make Yamaha look better just not telling people when we will see new bikes?
when I bought mine, there were 3 '22 yz450's sitting there. Not really much of anything else though

No, 250 won't change until 2024.

The bike won't be available for around another 3 months it sounds like. If you announce too soon, it'll start to take more sales away from the existing model.

Don’t suppose you’ve heard anything about releasing a dual sport 450 similar to Honda’s 450L?

with all the conjecture as to how new it will be, I want to assume they wouldn't keep it under tight wraps like this unless it was truly "all new" ... which I hope means an entire chassis and a more radical look, aesthetically.

Nothing like a consumer who is impatient saying they would release the info right away lol. Zero marketing strategy

Because they aren’t racing it. Yamaha has a plan and we just wait for them to provide the product. After all, it is called a Yamaha. That means they can do what they feel is best for their brand and production costs etc.

Same way the 2010 engine turn around was kept tight lipped. I heard about it and saw it on accident. When these factors want to keep something quite they are more then capable of.

Oh, wait. You guys are talking about a YZ450F. Never mind.....

Man if they put a 450 motor in that thing I’d buy one. Aside from being pretty gutless those things are fun

Things i would like to see:

- More neutral rider triangle
- Make it more nimble without sacrificing stability, not easy but should be achievable.
- Go to a WP style fork guard style. I hate the bolts and the placement of them on the KYB fork that is on the Yamaha.
- Powerflow kit style air filter
- Fork adjusters that doesn't require tools.
- Firmer seat and a grippier seat cover

I go to a 20mm clamp from 22mm and 143.5mm link from 142mm. Sharpens it up a hair but stays good and planted. May not be for everyone but damn is it the magic ticket for me.

Ehhhh Suzuki might be worse…but it’s a tight race for last Grinning

I have a friend who says he knows someone at the local bus stop, who heard some people talking over the back fence, that they know someone who knows someone who parked next to some bloke what was talking on his phone about the 2023 YZ450f. He said he knew nothing at this time.
