Just a silly thing to say, if you mean more of his career is behind him than in front of him you could say that about every rookie in the 450 class. By the time you figure out all the time in 250 and the years at Lorrettas and such there is more in the rearview than in front of you.

I don't know why guys can't just admit that maybe they judged this a bit prematurely and maybe they are wrong.
Even if he keeps racing a little longer Ken is CLEARLY about finished. That’s not a slight, Eli is right there with him. It’s an almost done thing more than a forgot how to ride thing. It’s just winding down for a few of the guys and that includes Kenny. It’s a young mans sport.

Let's just say that less than 3 months before the opener, I'm not much impressed with any anouncements made up till now.
Meanwhile, I know the exact date for Paris SX, I know in which stadium it takes place, I know I'm gonna watch Tomac and the Lawrence Bros -and probably a few more top SX guys- so I guess I'm not gonna rush to book a flight and hotel to TBA on TBA to watch TBA race against TBA.
I know you’re going to keep making multiple posts here. I know you’ll even quote yourself if no one else replies. I know every one of those posts will be negative.
And I also know none of them impress me very much.

Why make big announcements months and months out from the series? Modern society doesn’t have a long attention span. Build slowly and ramp it up when it really counts sounds like a perfectly good strategy to me.

The new TV and streaming package isn’t helping, either.

You thought it was bad in May?

That is the whole point I'm making, the money they are throwing around or say they are throwing around has a chance to really change some minds.

Example how it could work:

Honda wants to stick with the SX and Outdoor national model.

Ken Roczen decides he doesn't want to race outdoors anymore.

Mike Genova throws a bunch of money at Kenny and says he can race both SX series and make the same or more money.

This may be a perfect avenue for a team like JGR to get back into racing. I'm sure ML512 can confirm it costs way more to run nationals than the SX season.

It all may not happen but there is a potential for a perfect storm here to change the face of racing in America.
You may be on to something...

How many people choking on their comments weeks and months ago stating they wouldn't get big names? Webb will be the next big name announcement hence him not racing outdoors. Roczen, Tomac, Webb, Ando they'll all dip their toes in this year and commit fully next year, although Roczen already fully committed.

Roczen already said he's racing AMA Supercross and Motocross next year.

I find it interesting that they have all those riders on the power rankings. Surely not all of them are committed at this point. They have AC, Plessinger, Stewart, etc.

It's really, really simple.

It's not power rankings. It's the final standings of the 2021 FIM SX world championship, which was the Monster Energy SX series by FELD.

Just out of curiosity is SuperMotocross big enough to consider that it's remaking the sport?

They can say it was in the works all along but I'd be willing to bet WSX had a big hand in pushing it further. Feld and MX Sports are both smart enough to identify it as a threat. Right now it's more of a threat to the nationals but Feld is smart for insuring it doesn't get momentum.

If anyone thinks 2023 contracts won't stipulate racing domestically ONLY and under the SMX world championship you're crazy. Factories are going to protect their investments and not allow their riders to leave the major domestic partnership that was just made.

Smart?

Feld caused the current consternation and threat to the Outdoors by releasing the FIM World Championship rights.

A FIM world championship is prestigious.

A cobbled up appendix to an existing series being pushed as a WC is not.

You have a point about them dropping the FIM rights causing some of this, but you need to remember how many people were clamoring for the AMA to ditch the FIM before they did. The FIM was blamed for numerous things, one of the biggies was a perceived targeting of American riders in drug testing.

Like any contract it will depend on who has the leverage. If Jett tells Honda that he wants a SX and WSX contract or else he is signing with someone who lets him what do you think Honda will do?

No one will race this series. Everyone races AMA SX because that's where the home of Supercross is. No one else has a series as decorated as AMA SX. And any big names that DO show up are being paid off with money that came out of thin air.

AMA SX doesn't have to worry about this bogus series. It will die faster than it gets started.
I haven't seen anyone talk about the pain in the a$$ of moving a semi rig and bikes across continents/oceans and how much more that costs than racing the ONLY true SX Series in the good ole USA.

Just silly to think no one will race, a list of names racing is already pretty impressive. If you listened to the Pulp show guys like Cade Clason, A-Ray and Benny Bloss are trying to find teams and may not be able to. So if guys that are top 15thish don't have rides there must be some talent racing WSX.

This right here...

Also, What are the Kids going to do??.. Deegan, Dax, Ferry.. That's the next generation.. That is going to choose which series is going to be what.

I can see Deegan starting here (usa), then saying to hell with this and try for legit world domination.. with the amount of eyes on him. The next 2 years is going to be super interesting imo.

In my opinion every hotshot kid coming out of Lorrettas should do WSX first. Most of those kids still need some SX preparation and what better way to get ready for A1 than to do a season of WSX first. Even if the plan the next year is SX/MX it still makes sense to get some less pressure stadium experience.

Not if they are already contracted to a factory...those riders that aren't the best coming out maybe....lot's of decisions and possible changes after the 3 race WSX this fall...just know that many riders racing the WSX are only contracted for the 3 races.

All the more reason if they are contracted to the factory.

Say the plan for a Honda kid is to go pro after LL's next year. Why not "farm him out" to MCR for 23 WSX season to get some experience and SX gate drops. That kid would be so much further ahead than if he raced 4 outdoor nationals. Just because there is no actual pipeline like that right now doesn't mean there shouldn't be one. That's how it will be remaking the sport.
