I think he has stepped up his game. I don't listen all the episodes from Gypsy tales, Pulpmx or what ever. There are so many podcasts out there that is impossible to listen them all. Especially if you are interested something else besides moto. Usually if there something interesting on a moto podcast, there will be thread about it on vital.

I've never listened to one of his podcasts or watched one of his videos, because how it was described, it just didn't sound like I'd like it. Then when he came on Pulp, at first I thought, "well this guy doesn't sound so bad, I could maybe give him a chance."

Then when he defended intentionally pushing things he knew weren't true/clickbait captions I was out. "It doesn't have to be factual, it's about entertainment!" The giant Herlings thread is kind of an example of that, the headlines/small clips frame it to be a lot more outlandish than what everyone who listened to the whole podcast said it was.

That's the same kind of manipulation, not outright saying something, but hinting heavily at it/phrasing it as a question (Is Kawasaki holding back the works parts?) that's so prevalent in other forms of media that's led to so much disinformation/division today.

Goddamn I sound old now, I swear I'm only 34.

I think the clickbait titles thing is weird, I get that they NEED clicks to pay the bills, but anyone interested in a Herlings interview is gonna listen anyway without that, and it did make it sound like he was saying the complete opposite of what he actually said for folks just flicking through video titles as many did. It makes sense in the wider world (I don't like it, but I understand why they do it) but in such a core sport why bother?

His titles are a little out there but I can see past that. It’s pretty funny to mock his bro talk but in all seriousness the only thing that I don’t really like about him is that he always 100% agrees with his guests. If it’s an aussie that done gps? “Faark yeah bro the gp scene is way gnarlier than the ama”. If it’s a US pro rider? “Faark bro the nationals are so much gnarlier than the gps”. That’s an example but it’s just a trend I’ve noticed and I wish he’d argue and debate a bit more with his guests.

I suppose you can't fake personality doing what he does, so he has just gotta be himself.

I don't really dig the way Mathes and the other older guys with podcasts present themselves and talk. I do enjoy their content though!

I think it's generational to be honest.
No…not everyone swears like this, just the eshays and low socioeconomic types.

Too much f this and f that and f bro, and too much f f f and just too much talking from the host for me. I totally blocked the channel, because I clicked on more videos than I wanted because of the guest or the title. Always regretted it, so to avoid the temptation, I just blocked the channel. The content is good, but he just messes it up.

Steve does well with race recaps and conversations with a panel of guests with varying opinions, Ping does a great job getting riders to speak about their whole career chronologically from start to finish, and Jase is great at getting riders to open up a bit with his conversational approach (see Swoll and Anderson’s interviews, for example). Yeah, he can bro out a bit on the show, but it works for getting the guests to open up and talk like it’s just a conversation and not a podcast.

Nobody really steps on each other’s toes, it’s not like I have to pick one pod or the other like if they were all taking the same approach covering the same topics. I think it’s great for us fans in terms of content diversity.

Good content, but he is over the top,

Hope people don’t think that’s a stereotype of an Australian? Because it ain’t

He bleeds insecurity in the way he wants to be accepted by his guests. This, more than the swearing or bro-culture-talk is the big turn off to me. He's got a great opportunity considering who comes through his studio, but a little more homework on who he's interviewing, a little less "I want to be accepted by you" and 15% as much interjection about his own life and I'd listen to every one.

As it stands however...cringe.

It's the "yea, no" for me.
But I probably say Umm a lot when I talk, so who gives a shit.

Youtube is a highly competitive market now. 'Content' creators are backed into a corner really otherwise you get buried very fast. Youtube analyses early video performance before boosting to a wider audience. If there is any sign that the video isn't getting clicked, you're toast. Of course it matters if viewers are leaving the video so you can't go TOO far with a thumbnail, but it's very difficult to get that click.

I like the show, the cussing and him talking about Jitz is just his personality. To me, it sounds like it’s just two guys there having a conversation, not an interview, and in order to get that vibe, you need to interject yourself into the conversation.

Listen to Rogan, or or Jocko, they interject their likes, dislikes, and opinions into their conversations too. Pulp interviews, which is cool, because you’re going to learn their take on our sport, but Gypsy has good conversation, you can’t compare the two.

Tough comparison, Rogan is amazing at getting people to drop their walls without saying much at all..
I think once Gypsy figures out these small annoyances that everyone seems to have in common, he can be one of the big players in the moto world..

Damn straight, most guys I do work for have BIG money just due to the nature of the business, and I try and dial back my swearing, at least initially (as I do on here) but a lot of these guys are way worse (using the term worse loosely) than me...

And for the record they have big money, I really don't, so that is in no way some lame brag attempt.

I hear what you mean, but you have to admit that he has the ability to ask lots of good questions, and I think (as a whole) it feels like most of the guests feel comfortable with him and open up a bit.

To each their own, Gypsy is less annoying than Pulp to me, who often seems passive aggressive, but both add value to the community. Gypsy breaking down great little clips on YouTube is great, and the fact that Herlings is using his platform to talk about a Tomac battle and JLaw letting him share the news of racing makes me thin Gypsy has the special sauce of a platform that the riders in our sport like most.

Pulp is by far the most annoying podcast, but the guests are good and I get my fix of info in our sport. Gypsy gets really good info and insight out of riders too, he has Herlings saying he wants to throwdown with Eli for the title of FMOTP ffs Laughing . Thats good entertainment too - just appreciate the show for the guests and what they share and not the presenter because after enough times all hosts get irritating, especially cry baby Matthes. Every week I gotta get through listening to him bicker with JT like a jealous little brother trying to be contrarian for the sake of getting attention but I still tune in every week to listen.

Jase, you're the shit. Fuck these haters. Keep putting out great FREE content, in the way that feels authentic to who you are. I doubt you even read this garbage, but if you do, thank you for all of it. Been a moto head since '90, grew up in the hills of east county San Diego, and I'm happy to have you in the sport.

I enjoy the guy, no one is perfect.
The target audience for his YouTube views prob isn’t the crusty old fucks that hang around vitalmx

I listened once, his limited vocabulary and knowledge was cringe worthy when describing “kit” suspension and how it’s better then stock.

Also find his voice and accent nauseating.

Not for me.

His limited knowledge? That's laughable.. The guy eats and breaths this sport, has his whole life. I've heard him speak with fluency on the 90s, 00s, 10s, to the present. At least Vital now knows you speak from a place of ignorance. That's a good look.
