With his ”struggles” in SX, it would be cool to see him do a MXGP season. Get a brake from his struggles and gain some great experince.

Yeah, that would help him with SX.

OR we could just accept that some riders just aint forged for SX… Like plenty of the other american racers that have come over to europe like Ryno and Mike Brown. I could see Max doing pretty good over here and his family seems to do things with a open mind..

Dude, he ain’t exactly killing it outdoors, either. An AMA factory racer is expected to perform both indoors and out. So far, we haven’t seen either from Max. Based on what he’s produced to date, do you honestly see European factory teams lining up with checks in hand in an effort to bring bring him to MXGP? He’s beyond the point of living in a room above the team shop like the Lawrence brothers did. He needs to step up and perform to his obvious potential here in AMA Motocross and Supercross or find a different way to make a living. Roger is no dummy and wouldn’t have bet the farm on Max if he didn’t expect championship performance out of him. We all know he has it in him. The time to produce is today.

You must be one of those people who think only about 3 people in the world should be making money in this sport. Vohland is taking top 10 in a professional race series and you think he should be looking for other ways to make a living. That is so messed up.

The only somewhat intelligent thing you said in your post is that Roger is no dummy. We can argue all day long whether or not he’s living up to his potential. I would think anyone who is a true fan of dirt bikes would understand how hard it is to be at the level every single one of these top 20 athletes is at. And for anyone to say, or insinuate, that any of these guys don’t deserve to make a living is just plain stupid. I would say about 99% of us here would agree that every single one of these guys should be making a very nice living while being at this level. The other 1%… well, it’s better to just ignore them. Which I’ve apparently failed to do 😂

Where is this "AMA Factory" that you describe?

Reading (basic) comprehension, do you have it? Implicit subject, he is referring to any factory team running on the AMA motocross circuit.

I'm curious, on what are these expectations based? He never really flashed in the amateurs until he was held back an extra year in super mini, then held back again to race a year of 125s while his contemporaries had all moved on to B or A. I just don't get what anyone saw that would lead them to believe he would be fighting for top 5s much less podiums or championships at this point in his career. He would have been much better off as the 3rd or 4th guy on another team instead of getting thrown from 125B/C to the lone rider on Factory KTM. Someone fumbled that decision. Regardless, he's good enough to have a nice long career getting paid to race dirt bikes unless he cracks under the unjustified expectations.

Good kid, tough time recently, everyone develops at a different pace, who do you think would win a chess match today between him and Hunter? Who do you think would win an arm wrestle out of him and Jett? Does that mean he won't toughen up, mentally and physically, and keep improving and gaining speed and experience and climbing higher? No.

I keep coming back to it but it's the most worthwhile thing I've heard on the subject, the lad moved up earlier than planned (for him, not by anyone else's standards) and he's trying to find his way, along with gnarly injuries which obviously threw him off his game.

It won't just click and be like it never happened within a couple of races. Give him a chance.

Gotta love Vital. All the arm chair quarterbacks you can eat in one fat guy buffet. When ANY of us can make a night show or a National, Hell might freeze over. Until then, dont stop playing video games all day, and living at your Moms. Max will be fine. Maybe call in to the Pulp show and share some of your expert opinions on Monday, We will be listening.
P.s. Shout out to Bauer.. Get healthy bro. Lets moto.

There are a lot of guys on Vital that have made a night show or national. What does that have to do with Max Vohland?

Most impressive part was he came thru the pack and even passed Cooper in the 1st moto.
This week 4 of the 5 star bikes were 4 of the last 5 factory bikes.

He made a great charge in the 2nd moto too, finished 9th but was 27th on the first scoring.

Me and you. Fast 40 at a national is not very exclusive. But what does that have to do with Max Vohland?

I think we were arguing that he doesn’t deserve a factory ride because he isn’t beating the Lawrence brothers, and that KTM should just put one of their secret riders capable of beating them on the bike instead.

I knew someone was going to bring the thread up. Wonder if Max stays with KTM next year.

After Max missed the main, the first thing that came to my mind was. How bad is vital lighting this kid up. IMO he is not a SX rider. He is an outdoor ace. But we all know the industry has little interest on the outdoors these days.

As cruel as it is if you are a pro at anything you get paid for results, whether you are a SX rider, plumber, or car salesman. That's life. Max doesn't get results.
