How often does everyone actually change their coolant?

Take the cap off and flip it over on it's handlebars and seat, takes a minute tops.

I never did on all my previous bikes unless I replaced a radiator but I'm gonna switch to engine ice on this new bike I just bought after a few more rides. It's easy

Coolant does have a service life, I end up having to drain it for other reasons before then tho. If I take it out, fresh goes in.

I do it about every 50k in my diesels, might be excessive but I beat on them.

When you do new piston and rings. You have to drop the coolant anyway so fill it up with fresh stuff.

Never...outside of when I have to drain the radiators for something else (like replacing a radiator or something). But I've never looked at the hour meter and though "whelp, is been XXX number of hours, better change my radiator fluid".

I use Engine Ice and have been changing it out around every 30-40 hours. It definitely breaks down and should be replaced to be as effective as it’s capable of being.

Once a year on my 4 stroke, every top end on the 2 stroke. We only use Engine Ice. Brake fluid at least 2-3 times a year. I put about 50 hours a year on the meter on the 4T. 2T gets a top end 2x a year, 40 hours between each usually.

In the MX bikes, change it when i have to drain it

But check it EVERY SINGLE RIDE.

I guess I should’ve said it gets contaminated. Which is a good reason to flush it out and start over.
Fresh coolant/ Engine Ice will outperform coolant that has time on it. I’ll leave the details to someone with more knowledge and a bigger vocabulary.

Pretty sure my 07 kx250 2 stroke still has the OEM coolant in it.. I may have topped it up after doing a top end 🤣

Hahaha. 4stroke never changed it, 2 stroke every top end.

I've done a bit of chemistry before, and I ain't worried. 😁

Don't really check it until the summer temps come in. Then I check it regularly to make sure I got enough. Pretty rare I ride in anything above 95 degrees, so coolant performance isn't really a thing on my mind. I always notice a change in operating temps with Engine Ice, so I usually use that after a top end.

Gee I even try save it when I do a top end on my 2 strokes. It's really good and lasts forever.

You can sample it and send it to a lab we do it in mining and it lasts thousands of hours in heavy diesel applications and the engine castings are absolute junk.

Why go longer than a year without changing it? It's easy and a bottle of coolant isn't very expensive.
