I’ve broken two. One bike in half and one of my kx450’s broke a weld about 8 inches long on the neck. They had a few do it that year.

I really like Billy at Luxon's feedback on this stuff. Anyone that has tried to properly torque the triple clamp bolts will see what the problems are with the stock torque settings. You can feel the steel bolt suffering through the aluminum triple clamps while tightening. Great comments and feedback by Luxon.....i wound up buying their handlebar holders for my KTM! Good stuff.

It seems like all brands break my son cracked CRF450 08 frame after 120 hours underneath the head tube by the bearing race wasn't a safe place to weld so I reframed it he cracked his 2013 CRF450 underneath the Twin Spars and also cracked his 2015 CRF450 frame in the same spot. He's also cracked in 04 CR250 where the rear shock mounts to the frame that one was huge I've had it welded many times had to end up getting rid of the bike. Sold it to a friend that only rides in the desert LOL I'll buy it back as soon as I can find a good used frame lol. He's on a 2022 KTM right now and I'm scared to death not a big fan of the powder coating that hides all the cracks and like someone else said I'm not sure if they treat the inside of the frame so it could be rusting from the inside out! That's just a list of the big bikes he's cracked every frame on mini bikes that he's ever touched except for the CR85 LOL the RM 85s are the worst!

I’m no engineer but there doesn’t seem to be much metal there where that broke. I guess everyone is trying to make parts as light as possible.

Well, I don't know anything about this situation other than what's given in the Instagram posts and the photos. Based on those alone, I have a few questions/comments:

1) That's an odd break from hitting a tree. It almost looks like a break from a three-point bending scenario.

2) How come there isn't a photo of the bike all smashed up after it hit the "tree"?

3) Why is the steering stem pressed out and the bearing off in all the photos of the broken clamps?

4) Pressing the stem out to change a bearing, but not supporting the clamp directly near the stem area creates a three-point bending scenario with a lot of force...

I'm not saying that's definitely what happened here, but it looks awfully suspect to me. We wouldn't warranty this regardless, whether it was poor mechanical judgement or if he did indeed hit a tree. We would probably help out with our crash replacement program and get them a discount to get back up and running, but there certainly wouldn't be a free set of clamps in the mail.

I agree. I'd like to see the broken fork that goes with it.

Yeah, after Billy’s comments there’s no damn way that was from hitting a tree (I have a magnitude of experience in this field.

I’m looking at my own bike to figure out exactly what would happen if I hit a tree and my clamp broke like that. The fork would be fucked!

Not a good look to completely blow a company out on social media and then tag all your sponsors in the same posts, hopefully he doesn’t loop out and snap the rear fender, Acerbis would get drug through the mud.

It’s not uncommon for things to break when you use a press the wrong way.
