If he is racing all 12 theres no way he wont win a couple races, maybe even the championship. Its mosty all the same people he's beated except for Ferrandis and Sexton

Been 5 years. Not doubting him but I think we'll have a better idea after the first 2 rounds.

He last raced a National 6 years ago. When James Stewart was still racing. Obama was president. Suzuki’s weren’t the only bikes with kickstarters. Zach Osborne had yet to win a race. That’s a long time in moto years bro.

if I end up being wrong, I’ll quote this post and admit it.

Agree, it's a lot to ask for, but if there was one guy it would probably be Dungey. If he goes the whole season though, I think it's going to be quite a grind for him.

I hope you are wrong, but I don’t think you will be. If he gets on the podium at a race this year that would be an incredible accomplishment, much less a win.

Not sure about winning anything , but I have a feeling he'll do better than what some might think. He never really stopped riding and training ( not the extent of what he did years ago ) , I'm saying he never let himself go. I can see him battling inside the top 5 , possible podium?? Not sure ......but what I 100% believe is , he won't be outside the top 10 in any moto without a wreck.

My heart says YES! My head says consistent top 10 finishes with occasional top 5 sprinkled in would be very impressive. Being away 6 years is a long time in MX bro. The pace is uncomfortably fast for someone coming back after such a long time.

I can see him within the top 15. occasional top 10..

When you have
- Tomac
- DF14
- El Hombre
- Sexton
- Roczen
- AP7
- Mookie
- Barcia
- Wilson

And than AC222 coming over who is a race win contender and top 5 rider in the world..

Plus any of the 250 riders who are wanting to move up.

RD is an animal.. But He hasnt had a gate drop in a long time and a lot of riders who Dungey would Wax in his prime have progressed

If he races every race, I'd be surprised if he wasn't in the top 5-7 of points at the end of the championship. Dude has always been crazy consistent. And outside of ferrandis and tomac not many in the 450 class have much history of being very consistent or healthy over the course of a series.

I'm the biggest Dunge fan, but I think a moto win would be about as much as we can expect. Is he in shape? Yes, will he be fast? Yes. But let's not forget, this isn't his career any more. He has nothing to prove. He doesn't have to land a ride for next year. That fire to win at all costs won't be there, nor should it be there. I see him running 5-8 place most races. Smiling after each moto and conversing with fans, but his titles have already been won.

I'm not trying to shit on dunge but it's going to be hard.

I agree it's going to be hard, but when RV retired, he went into full-on retired guy mode. The Coors Light was flowing like wine, and I think he said he didn't even touch a bike for close to a year. I don't think Dungey stayed off the bike very long, and he's always been in shape, so I think he stands a better chance of doing well.

I'd love to see it too, you know he's stayed sharp and wouldn't be there if he wasn't good to go, but realistically until he's out there it's a total unknown.

May get beated, may do the beateding, who knows.

I don't think anyone has been successful with a return to racing after years off. Bradshaw, McGrath, Kiedrowski all come to mind. With that said, I hope he changes that and is at the front. It would be a great story and awesome to watch another guy battling for wins.

He'll help to keep KTM in the spotlight.
He'll help to keep up the early season hype.
He'll be successful in both.

Doubtful he wins a moto.
Very doubtful.
Doubtful he doesn't get podium or two via, position by attrition.

I like Dungey a lot and I hope I am wrong, but I'm not sure he will even podium this year if Roczen and Tomac stay healthy. Couple those 2 with Anderson, Ferrandis, Sexton, possibly AC, it will be hard for him to do it especially after not racing over the past 5 years.

To be fair MC got a 4th to RC CR & JS.. that’s like the “best of the rest”
