First off, huge congrats to Malcom, Husky and the Stewart family on getting 3rd in the series overall. That is such a huge accomplishment.

Regarding fans, I loved hearing the crowd cheering for him during the race. It was also the same way in Arlington this year watching the race live. I thought his podium speech was great and how loud the crowd was cheering for him put a huge smile on my face.

Mookie has evolved into a legit top tier guy in SX now. Excited to see what he can do outdoors.

He is a fan favourite for sure, I like the fact that people don’t see him as James’s little brother anymore. I hope he can get on top of the podium next season!

Yes. I hope he keeps improving. He's definitely different than James.

I almost wish it had been for third place in the series and see him catch Barcia back and pass him.

Oh well he took it anyway, *slap* in Barcias face.

I still like Barcia. He's not a cookie cutter pro.

One thing I’ve really seen with Utah:

They LOVE their sports out here, especially motorsports. To the point to where fans actually really act like fans. It’s refreshing to see people genuinely stoked and passionate about something you’re also into.

And yeah, Stewart has been awesome this. I really hope he keeps that train rolling. He’s only getting better it seems.

Another favorite Mookie moment of the year was mid season when they were interviewing his dad "Big" James, and he said that he knew his younger son had arrived when fans started saying "look, there is Malcolm's dad" (as opposed to James).

I loved it too and it was well deserved!! That pass he put on Barcia was freaking beautiful. He was riding awesome.

Weird side note:

Does anyone else notice that he never mentions James on the podium? Always thanks Mom and Dad, mentions this and that sponsor but never once have I heard him say anything about his brother. Just a weird thing to me.

I think he is going to be faster than people think outdoors. It’s not like he hasn’t been riding MX motos in the off seasons all these years. He easily has the speed to be around Barcia’s pace I think. Hanging around the top 5 with the potential to snatch a podium.

I think Malcolm's achievements are outstanding, more than that, his personality has far out performed his results. He,s a superstar.
I like him!

How often do you hear other riders thank their siblings on the podium?

You’re right, I dont. I would just think being he is the leader of Seven, his sponsor he will never leave, and the fact I’d think he has provided him insight he’d mention him along with his parents but I’m sure his parents are what got him there. Heck Idk man it’s just a thought. Maybe he ain’t don’t jack for him and he’s paved his own way. I ain’t saying he should, I just noticed it.

Seems sort of specific. Lots of riders siblings may have helped them in many ways.

Mcgrath did the Mascot thing back in his prime.

Malcolm has recognized James many times over the years on the podium and in interviews.

I guess... But that's still looking at it through the same weird, fan-specific lens as the James and Malcolm situation.

Moto is a family sport, and the vast majority of dudes on the box probably have siblings that have helped them in various ways, whether that sibling is a famous rider or not. But we're not sitting here picking apart every podium speech for the names of the brothers/sisters because that would just be probing and dorky. However, we do that for Malcolm, because we already have a fan narrative on the brain.

Honestly our stadium sucks for SX imo but I'm glad we at least showed some heart for the sport during the race. Lot's of rednecks out here that love them some supercross Grinning

I remember when James was at the end of his career and Mookie at some outdoors cheering him on. James hardly ever gives Mookie any love on his show. I have noticed that as well.

He deserved the cheers he got. He's got legit speed and enough to win if he can get a start. He's very friendly and he's a clean rider. I can't think of a single reason to not root for a guy like that.

Personally, I didn’t appreciate him taking a nap on the handlebars during the National Anthem last season - but it is hard to dislike him as a person and racer. He seems like a great guy.

Don’t care how you view it btw, I just don’t care for seeing political demonstrations at sporting events.
