Scottie was the only Vital member with whom i chatted privately. I have been thru alot in my life myself, including cancer. At the time I was given 10% of chance of survive. I'm never ever the same person again after the amount of chemo, and surgeries I got. It includes the constant pain in all over my body, 24/7 tinnitus in both ears as loud as fuck, not to mention the mental strugles what this is all causes.
The strugle we both had, kind of united us, and the occasional messeging for cheering each other up were helpful for keep fighting.
But, as the old Estonian proverb says. No rubber stretches infinitely.

I am struggling to wrap my head around all this. I pray he is in a better place and his pain is over. I didn't know him but knew he was a regular here for as long as I can remember, probably before I joined. I am glad for the note he wrote to all of us and wanted shared afterwards. It makes it a tiny, tiny bit easier knowing that he had thought it through and was good with his decision as rough as it must have been to come to it. RIP, Scottie. You are missed.

I didn't know you...but reading the responses in here....you touched lives and that is one of the true "riches" of this world.

I will say a prayer for you and your loved ones. Sleep well sir... your fight is done.

Seems not that long ago we were riding and ditching the cops on 80's.
I feel sad, mad and now I'm crying but I understand your decision.

RIP my NorCal Vital brother. Always felt at home here when you were frequenting this site. This sport has the highest of highs, taught us life lessons, and it brought us all here...to Dream On.

Praying for you and your family. You will never be forgotten.

Complete shock, my condolences to his family.

I (like so many other vital members) have PM'd with him for many years, hard to grasp that he is gone.

R.I.P. mate! On days like this I wish that afterlife exists and that you're back on your legs, without pain! Living a life you deserve without the draining chronic pain, with a ton of friends and off course a damn dirt bike to shred.

RIP Scottie. I hope you are in a better place now.

Like a lot of you I only knew him online. A few years back Scottie was dealing with insomnia and having trouble being active and alert in the morning hours. Due to the time zone differences he was looking for someone to help him out and start the qualifying and motos bench racing threads for the east coast MX nationals and to post links, timed qualifying sheets, and results. I was glad to help out and he hooked me up with a sweet Vital MX swag pack as a result. When I get home home tonight I am pulling out the hoodie he sent me and wearing it in his memory.

Quite a few times over the years in the bench racing threads he would quote a post of mine and reply with a "get out of my head" comment because apparently we would have similar thoughts about what was unfolding during a race.

Words are hard to come by.

I never met him in person but his passion for moto and F1 ,among other things, was so great.

In 2012 the first US F1 Grand Prix at COTA was on his birthday. I really wanted to get him out here to see it.
But he said it would be hard to travel.

So I had an idea to do something for him and had these shirts made.
There were delivered to GuyB who had riders sign one. Then it and the others were given to him.
In 2014 at the Houston SX i was able to get Kenny to put one on and take this picture.

I know he really appreciated it.

I / we are all better people for having had the chance to correspond with him.

We all will miss you dearly.

Damn, such sad news.

I have been coming here on and off for over 10 years. Sometimes daily, sometimes weekly, sometimes monthly. But the one constant was OCScottie, esp on race day.

I hope you're in a better place OSC.

Take care of yourselves everyone x

I remember that picture so well. The dang pics in this thread are tearing me up. I know many of you other guys / gals out there feel the same way I do right now. Accomplished absolutely nothing today. Have no will to do so. When Joe and Dwayne passed I felt the same way. Hate to sound like a big softie here , but gawd this really is a shitty day.
