I’ve never shed a tear for someone who passed away that I didn’t know in person until today. RIP Scott.

Godspeed Scottie! You got balls of steel and your action makes me realize that my trivial problems and rebuilt ankle pain are nothing compared to what other people are going through. Thanks for the reality check and mad respect for you doing what was best for you. RIP!

Rest in peace, Scottie. It's terrible the amount of suffering you had to endure, I hope you have finally found peace and comfort. You were loved by many, most of whom had never met you including me. You will be greatly missed. I'm fortunate every time I click on my profile page I will be reminded of your kindness and humor:

Remarkably hard decisions can only be made by remarkably hard men. Scottie not only embodied that persona, but did so compassionately and without burden to others. With all that anyone would have done for him at anytime, it turns out that all he wanted was friendship and the well being of others. Signs of a remarkable man.

Same here, been in this chair as a paraplegic for 21 years now. There's quite a few of us in chairs on this site. People don't see all the "behind the scenes" shit that we go through. Bowel & bladder care / accidents, I've pissed or shit myself at the office on multiple occasions and it's embarrassing. The back pain from the injury, shoulder pain from pushing a chair all day, lifting myself into my truck, the bed, shower, toilet, etc. Leg spasms, urinary infections, losing your independence and that sinking feeling when you go somewhere or to someone's house and you have to deal with stairs you can't get up. Dating - finding a good chick to see past the chair and all that crap that comes with it I just mentioned. It's a tough life no doubt. I've found myself on many occasions thinking about just ending it and finally getting out of this chair.

People always say taking your own life is the most selfish thing you could do, but to me I always thought it was more selfish for people to make me stay alive and deal with this Hell every day just so they didn't have to go through the pain of me being gone. They aren't the ones waking up every day not able to feel or move half your body, they don't have to lift themselves into a chair every morning and deal with the constant physical and mental/emotional pain that we do. I miss riding my bike every day. I have dreams of me riding all the time and wake up crying every time because I miss it so much and want the dream to never end. That's something people don't see us dealing with. I got sucked into the world of opiate painkiller, taking percocet & oxy every day until it sucked everything out of me. Getting off of all that was the worst, miserable time I can remember. The problem is, once the meds our out of your system, the pain is still there and sometimes the Dr's just can't do much else about it. Surgery after surgery, physical therapy, etc. It's just something we're forced to live with and try to put on a smile for those around us.

But we're also some of the toughest sob's there are. We choose to keep fighting every day and trying to find the good things in life to keep us going. I just hope Scottie is feeling a little better today. Not gonna lie....I've written a few of those notes myself with the intent of going through with it. I think sometimes just the ACT of writing the note and putting yourself in that mindset can be a bit of a relief, almost therapeutic. Getting those emotions out and releasing some of the pain.

Scottie - if you read this and I hope you do, just know you've got so many people here that love you, cherish your friendship, and would do anything it takes to help. We've been through so much of the same shit, if you ever wanna talk on the phone or text or email you can reach out to me buddy, I'll be here and I know exactly how you feel.
Well, our moto brother OC no longer suffers. It is said that you can tell how loved a man is by the remarks of those who knew him when he dies. There is no room for doubt. It is beyond crystle clear that OC Scottie was a man who's friendship is worthy of words chiseled in stone.

Thank you for the post. I never really much talk to others who've been paralized through all these years. Reading your post was like hearing my own thoughts. I'm not used to someone else describing what we go through. Yes, incontinent accidents are embarrassing and frustrating. I'll never forget the first time I farted as a Paraplegic. I'm doing physical therapy and so there's people around pretty close. Suddenly I hear a fart and start wondering.. who did it? Nobody said anything so I'm looking around trying to figure out who the offender was. Turns out it was me! I just couldn't feel it like I used to with the injury. Then I went back to adult school to get my G.E.D and while asking the teacher a question at her desk I had one fly that had no end. It had to be 8 seconds minimum. I could feel my face turn beet red....but I just said excuse me and went on with my question. What I really wanted to do was leave and find a rock to crawl under. Turned out that I farted fairly often in class. I kept waiting for laughter and scorn from the others but to my surprise nobody ever really did. Nevertheless, it is still embarrassing when it happens. I decided to include this crude experience because I think Scottie would appreciate both the humor and disaster of it. Lol.
Thanks once again for your comment. May our brother in moto RIP

I know you personally & I'm grateful for that. You've taught me a lot about dealing with these things...in life. You probably don't know or realize it...but...from the conversations at LA Coliseum to riding at The Ranch or Glen Helen...& just catching up over a beer...you've made me learn & take note of what a man will do send pain "away". Our conversations will never be forgotten.

Thanks for that.

It's helping me realize things...again...today. Important things.

Scottie, you will be missed by so many. we'll be thinking of you on many-a-race day.

Rest Peacefully and Smile.

Tough to read this thread but as others have mentioned it genuinely seemed to be on his own terms after more suffering than most of us could endure. RIP and thoughts with his family and friends.

RIP Scottie.

While I understand that people can make this decision on their own terms and in clear mind, I think its important to put this out there for anyone reading this thread that might also have these thoughts and need help:
