I originally thought it may be staged as well. But after watching it a few times /listening to the rage in Smith's voice afterwards and the fact that Rock seemed completely rattled and fucked up his lines during the next presentation leads me to believe the Will Smith actually did lose his mind there for a minute .

For the record ,I am a fan of both. Is there any history of bad blood between these two that may have led to Will's short fuse over a joke that wasn't really that offensive ? Don't get me wrong, if someone disrespects my wife or daughter , I would kick their ass worse than Will did, but this seemed to be just an innocent "Chris Rock" type of celebrity joke.

If Will Smith was so displeased by Chris Rock's comment, it would've had more impact if Will & Jada would have just stood up and left the event. Nevertheless, it's nothing but a bad image on how to properly address an distressing situation.

Definitely not staged, as Will Smith had too much on the line. What should have been the highlight of his career turned into a media circus. There’s zero upside in a pre-planned, violent act during a global awards presentation.

Speaking of, the Academy released a statement condemning violence of any kind…buuut we’re gonna let Will stay for the rest of the show. A real statement would have been dragging his ass out the door, down the red carpet, and into an awaiting squad car…

Lots of my buddies work in the film industy here and a while back Will Smith was shooting here in Cape Town. He was throwing tantrums and calling the white South Africans on set racists, his demands and the way he treated folk got so bad that people were walking off set. My buddies say he is a straight up cunt.

Then there are guys like Morgan Freeman and Clint Eastwood. They booked out a Golf Course here and took all the guys who worked on set golfing, they paid for lunch and the drinks at the 19th hole afterwards. Big respect to them.
