Can't believe nobody has compared it to this pass yet. First thing I thought of. The "shut off or you're going down" pass.

After re-watching the incident, I think Barcia did the right thing.
Anderson left the door open, and Barcia took advantage.
He went in, took the line away, and Anderson didn't check up.
Roles reversed, Anderson would've done exactly the same thing except put a little extra on it.

Okay...just watched it a few times. Jason has about a 5 or 6 bike lead and pivots hard in the turn. No way could he have changed the laws of physics and avoided him at that point. Anyone that watches and says otherwise doesn’t ride or is a dumb ass...or both. He was so far back that Anderson just didn’t expect it at all. It was a shit move. All ando could have, and should have, done is pull a Mookie and grab on to bambam’s bike and make sure he goes down too.

btw.. Anderson made a clean pass on bambam when he could have taken him out....I guess Jason regrets that now.
Ok, here’s how he misses Barcia and maintains the lead. He keeps his head up and slows down and/ or he changes his line.

So you don’t ride. When he pivots and rips out of the turn is the first he is looking that way. (He clearly thought a 6 bike lead is big enough to use that line...he was wrong.) He has a slight lean to the right..,can’t steer left and defy gravity....can’t turn hard enough right to miss ...and hitting the brakes will still make contact. Watch that takeout again...nobody avoids that contact once they pivot while on the gas. The way bambam angles....Jason was fucked...nothing he could do at that point. Sure...he should have considered a 5-6 bike lead and it was bambam ...the best at cutting sharp angle across for take out moves...but he didn’t. Once he pivots and twists that throttle he sees him and it is too late. bambam knew that would happen and that is why he did it. Now we get in to opinions. I think when a block pass crosses the line to take out a rider then it makes for worse racing...and is cheap. The proof of it making for worse racing is clear in the runaway championship. Everyone has their own opinion but at least the ama did a little something for the dumb ass cheap move. It wasn’t a block pass...it was a take out. Again...jmnsho
Ok, I was going to flame you on your judgement and then opinion based on assumptions but you were nice about your explanation so I won’t. You are right though, I’ve never lined up at a supercross.

I don’t disagree with the things you are saying. But, these aren’t displays of polite society. They aren’t WW I pilots.

You are excusing Anderson’s behavior based on “he thought.” I accept what you are saying except “he thought” is a failure. “He thought” became a gamble in which he lost everything because, they are racing, not polite gentlemen.

It is his responsibility to safely proceed. Head down WOT into a wall, a foolish gamble.

If my kids can keep their heads up so can Anderson.

Pretty sure that Webb, Tomac, or almost anyone else would have expected that move from Barcia or anyone. That pretty much defines "race craft". Either be gone before he gets there or have a plan to deal with it. Love Ando but full speed ahead ain't always a plan.

Everytime Barcia is involved in an incident like this. I wonder what the guy in front is thinking.... "No way Barcia can get me this time" "No way Barcia is close enough to clean me out" or is it more hold their breathe and "whew, he didnt get me in this corner"

I think it is more like, "whew, he didn't get me in this corner". Tomac hints at that often talking about Barcia.

Anderson already got whacked by Barcia earlier this year. What did Gomer Pyle say about getting fooled more than once???

BS move by Barcia but it is expected. Poor headwork by Anderson not expecting it.

I think some people here need to curl up in their safe place with their woobie blankets. It's racing. You give an inch to a guy like Barcia wtf you thing is gonna happen? Ever watched a race from the 80s, 90s, or 2ks? Good lord man. Also fold your laundry and go get your chick a Diet Pepsi before you catch a backhand from her. "OH KNOW! THESE TWO RACERS CRASHED INTO EACHOTHER! OH THE HORROR!" Sell your bikes and go buy some golf clubs or Tennis Rackets. This obviously is not the sport for you....weenies

I as well have no clue who you are, nor do I care. But I did see Anderson leave the door open about 30 feet openfor guy who's notorious for going out to win.Not too mention it was clean pass and Anderson had plenty of time to put the brakes on but chose not too. It's plainly obvious you never raced much in your life. Kick off your birkrnstocks, loosen you up your skinny jeans, and comb out your man bun buddy.
This was a horrible call by the AMA.

I've seen both Anderson and Barcia do much worse.
I'm not going to call this Anderson's fault, but he clearly could have avoided the collision. It's not like he didn't have an entire start stretch to his left to use coming out of that berm.
I don't know; sometimes when I watch these pros I am amazed... how can they be SO, SO fast and yet still have such horrible situation awareness? I don't think I would have made that mistake when I was in 125 Novice getting block passed. Oh well.

I couldn’t keep up with this thread due to that work thing. But has Bogle’s slit throat gesture that he made after witnessing the “incident” from behind been mentioned? I had to rewind a couple of times to see it again, thought that it was pretty funny. Apologies if its already been brought up….
PS. Thought Barcia’s move was dirty, but after watching it a few times, not so sure it was. That door could have been slammed shut. 🤷‍♂️.

Hard to see if it was a slash sign but still funny as hell because he slowed and stared at it and I could hear him saying, “been there...want some advice?” Made me go back and look at Bogle’s insta-payback. The angle of attack was almost identical to Barcia’s angle at Ando. Hehe. Increased my respect of Bogle and you can watch the races and see how clean Justin goes by him now. It seems so simple but the other 19 riders in the main can’t seem to figure it out.

Awesome to know that someone else saw at least something similar, but seriously, I watched it in slo-mo several times. Bogle looks back at Anderson and 100% does a slit-neck gesture, no mistake. I’m sure someone else can rewatch and verify. I’m surprised no one else has mentioned this

What’s the sign for -1 lap and 13th place? Why bother.

The catchphrase isn’t headwork but race craft.

Consider that these guys are at the highest level in the sport and are not exactly racing for plastic trophies. They are paid to race, and race hard.

A win could be worth 100 grand or more in bonus money, plus purse money etc. I don't think Barcia did anything, exceptionally vile here. So while Jason may not be happy about it, I'm sure when the time comes, he would have done the same also.

These guys are not cleaning anyone out possibly getting hurt for a piece of plastic, or say a couple of hundred bucks. IMO that is just unprofessional and stupid. If they take each other out for the difference in say 7th or 8th place it is just dumb and unprofessional conduct.

Otherwise, it is professional racing, for 25, 50 75, 100, grand, you should assume that the guy behind you will put you into the bleachers first chance they get.

Last summer I drove 15 hours to the Millville National. Tomac wasn't Tomac last year outdoors. Ferrandis looked unstoppable. I was wanting to see Roczen fight back against Ferrandis. However, Roczen goes down hard in the first corner of the start of the first moto. So who is the hero rider, Barcia. He was incredible.
2nd, moto, Roczen comes out, pulls the hole shot and never looks back. But Barcia was there on his heels the whole time. Barcia gets the overall and his first win of the season. I get within 15 feet of the podium, and shoot like 30 photo's of Barcia's victory celebration. Super happy for him and Gas Gas.
But after his "once again" bullshit takeout move, this time on Ando, eff him. Dirty rider, that's all I'll remember him as. Nothing else. Nuff said

After watching the pass again several times, I still think that it is the softest pass that the AMA has ever penalized (at least in my memory)!

I don’t think that there is any way to deny that the penalty given to Barcia is more akin to a ‘Lifetime Achievement Award/Penalty’ because that single pass certainly didn’t warrant it……..

Most riders who pass Barcia immediatly rely on every inch of Peripheral vision they can muster until the threat of road rage has passed.
