If my memory serves correctly it came out in the 1985 YZ’s?
(It could have been 84, tho it’s really inconsequential, as it was gone within a year or two anyway! I know my 1983 YZ didn’t have it, and if it was still on my brother's 1986 YZ we just disconnected it!)
The theory was that when you stepped on the brake pedal it would change the valving and be more compliant in braking bumps etc, but if you had a tendency to drag your rear brake it would cause the shock to run the wrong/softer valving at the worst time, or as someone else already mentioned, if you accidentally stepped on the brake pedal at the wrong time, (over a jump etc) you would bottom out violently enough to rattle your fillings loose!
Almost everyone I knew just disconnected it and ran the shock in a traditional setup!
Idea was "extra fuel" was stored in that empty bottle and then sucked out during the intake stroke, resulting in "extra fuel" in the cylinder.
Anyone able to tell the difference between regular and Splitfire spark plugs ? I noticed the price difference but that was about it lol
Pit Row
...vs the brake torque transmitted to the frame via brake stay arm..
And a gratuitous Bubba video and his mastery of the rear brake. Less effective if he hit the rear brake in mid-air with the floating rear brake of yesteryear (with brake torque transferred to frame)?
It was all BS, just to psyche out the completion. He welded a 6mm bolt to the pipe, and ran a hose to the bottle.
