It's not like Alessi vs. Tickle when Alessi T-boned him from a perpendicular angle. This is a racing incident to me, but I'm old.
Have we all forgotten when Craig actually did hurt AMart by punting him off the track? Did Craig think that was ok?
Vince caused it, yes. But he was going for it. Also, the way the track was groomed played a role in it. There was no inside berm as there should have been.
How about STOP grooming the track!
Are riders all pussies these days? The more whining I hear, the more I am rooting for Vince now. Weege.

The list goes on and on. Supercross track designs beg for this stuff it seems.
Based on the "Weege" criteria of people being afraid of Vince, Tomac is clearly afraid to be near Barcia and I am sure most all the riders out there don't want to be near him either.
My point is they all do it (except Tomac and Roczen) but they all get sooo upset when someone does it to them.
Again, that looked like a racing incident to me and nothing more.
This has been going on for over ten years with Friese. TEN. YEARS.
Being on probation won't change him because I don't think he actually processes the race situation and makes a decision.
The entire sport can't be wrong. The only people in the sport actually defending him are his own team. That's it.
I can buy into JT's take of horrible split second decision making, but it still feels to me like most people are reacting emotionally and taking it a notch too far. Lots of other riders on the track and fan favorites have done far dirtier and malicious moves, Vince just has a high occurence of 7/10 moves on the dirty scale, then doesn't have the "highs" to make people forget about them.
Pit Row
My suspicion is that Friese has always had someone to stand up for him, since he was in the Amateur ranks...defending him when he rode like a jerk. It's Genova now, and it was somebody else then. I have yet to read a word from him in his own defense...he's let everybody in his camp do all the taking for him. I'd have at least a little respect for him if he stood up for himself!
At this point, Craig is taking off to go triple+single in. Vince is ahead, and he is landing to triple all the way in from the next jump. They are not on the same rhythm. But look at their lines. Vince is not on the inside...he is not even in he middle...he is well to the right side...and Craig is just nuts....he is like 6" from the tough blocks...to the right of VINCE F***ing FRIESE...and he is still behind him.
Who is making questionable decisions here?
Is Vince obligated to yield and give up the corner at this point?
Isn't this a race?
Next shot:
Approximately 0.60 seconds later. At this point, Vince has now left the last triple, and is not quite over the double. Craig is coming down to land his triple. There is nothing Vince can do while in the air. He is still ahead. Is he obligated start thinking about giving up the corner at this point? He is still ahead. He was ahead when he left his last jump into the corner.
Next Shot:
Craig has landed...and he is absolutely pinned. Vince is in the air, still ahead, and the only thing he can do is think about what he is going to do when he lands. Is he obligated to start reaching for the rear brake at this point even though he is ahead?
Next Shot:
Craig is showing some masterful RV like landing technique here...absolutely pinned and getting perfect drive from the instant his rear touches. Look at that trail he is leaving in the sand. THIS is where he actually gains the speed to later pass Vince. But Vince is in the air, and it is hard to alter your trajectory in the air. Vince can not do anything till he lands, which will be in about 0.25 seconds.
Next Shot:
Crunch time. Vince has landed, body forward in the sand, meaning he is pinned. Up to this point, has he done anything wrong? He established a right line in the Rhythm section, and he landed right of the track centerline. He is about 7 feet from the tough blocks on the right.
This is not an "inside line". He was not on an inside line...he was on an outside line. The problem is Craig was on a line even further outside. At the instant Vince lands Craig is now ahead, and going much faster because of all the drive he got by landing pinned 28' sooner. Vince has about 1.5-2 bike lengths of travel to process what has happened, change his plans, and actually change inputs into the bike. That is about 0.5s of nervous system function, and he only has 0.25s of time. IT IS TOO LATE. At this point, he is going to be over the ridge before he can provide any inputs to the bike, and once he is over the ridge, the bike will go light and straight, and it will take him right into Craig. Basically, by the time Vince is obligated to yield by any stretch of the imagination, it is too late to avoid a crash. That is the definition of a racing incident. Once Vince and Craig took the lines and combos they took, a crash was pretty much baked into the cake.
Looks like a racing incident all the way. Each of them could have backed out of it, but then they would not be racers....
A big part of all this drama is the nonsensical commentary of RC and Blair. They kept talking about how Vince hopped to the outside instead of "staying inside". Just nonsense. Vince was never inside. Craig was crazy outside half way down the rhythm. There was just no time to react when Vince landed. Go to 54:51 in the Peacock broadcast and watch. He lands, the bike compresses, rebounds and goes light. After the bike goes light...it goes straight for like 10' just floating/skimming. The only way to prevent the crash was for Vince to jump left 30' earlier, and give up the corner while he WAS STILL AHEAD.
What about the next frame showing Vince roll right over the start of the inside berm?
They are going 30-35 mph. He just landed a triple in. Watch his bike and tires.... That pic you are looking at....his rear tire is OFF THE GROUND at that moment from rebound. Please show us how to turn a dirt bike with SX suspension in sand with your rear tire in the air.
Go to the slow motion replay from the rear view from the Peacock broadcast. 54:51 - Vince lands. Within about 2 bike lengths (about 0.2 seconds), he is so light on the tires from suspension rebound that he is not even kicking up sand dust. His rear tire is OFF THE GROUND as his front tire gets to the center ridge. Roll? What is he supposed to turn with? Magic? You can tell when a bike is actually getting grip in sand by the sand being thrown up in the air. Vince gets grip for about a .1 to .2 seconds when he lands...then he goes light for 20'-25' with no grip...just along for the ride. By the time he gets his tires down into the sand again (you can see his tires deep in the sand, and dust being thrown up again)...he is only a few feet from Craig.
The only way for him to not crash was to change his line BEFORE he left the ground on the last triple.
The AMA made the right non-call. Heck...I dont even think probation was warranted for this specific incident.
