I think it works fine

There’s a handful of users who are a bit too big for their boots. And I guarantee if they strutted around a bar with the same attitude they’d have their jaw broke.
Most know who they are, & you (ML512) do (or should) know too. In the interests of keeping the majority members keen, happy & motivated to keep on contributing, it might be a good idea to ask the ‘big-shots’ to just pipe down once in a while.

It’s ok to disagree. It’s not necessary to be nasty about disagreeing though.

Other than that, the “you have been automatically logged out” gets tedious.

I too had a run-in with GuyB once… I simply asked “where is Zach Osborne?”
Guy’s response was unnecessary. So yeah, glad he’s stepped away.

Up/down votes: I don’t care. But agree would be better if it wasnt anonymous.

Ping: yeah better in text IMO.

I know you can’t control what/how people post, but I find the ‘bench racing’ threads too big. They move on so fast with lots of pointless posts (three people post “Tomac goes fastest”) then the same three people post “Anderson goes fastest” repeat repeat repeat… FML
it would be good to make a ‘250 class’ & 450 class bench racing threads separately.

I love ‘pit-bits’. More of that sort of stuff please. What about some ‘after shots’? Dirty bikes, shredded tyres, broken plastic, ripped jerseys, loose radiator caps… all this stuff is just as interesting.

To me, its both absolutely childish... and kinda funny.

It bugs someone enough to actually click it , but give no reason why they clicked it. Own it.
Be transparent is all I'm saying.

Honestly, making the downvotes visible will just cause more problems for Vital resulting in more posts being deleted, more people getting banned, said people coming back under new usernames to continue arguing.

Vital is already receiving emails from members asking/demanding to know who downvoted their post so that they can go and downvote that member as well, followed by things like whoever it is they're wrong, stupid, idiots, fuck that guy, etc.

Now if they were visible, all that would just start appearing in the threads. Members are going to start going after members demanding an answer as to why they downvoted their posts, telling them to F-off, etc.

It's a no win situation.

Yeah, Maverick clicked me, if I had his name and adress I'd fly in and poison his dog.

I'm on the fence with thumbs up and thumbs down...I personally see benefit and negatives...be curious to hear more users thoughts on it.
At a minimum, the thumbs up is good. It's a nice way to like somebody's contribution without having to post an unnecessary "cool".

Been here since 2006. Vital is the only site I go to for moto info and it’s been that way for several years now.

Up/down votes I like. Someone else mentioned that it’s a way of approving/disapproving a post without taking the time to type out “you’re a ass or you’re a genius”. I also like seeing a really awesome post get 70/80 upvoted and a really shit post get negative 70/80. I really don’t care who ups so I won’t check on who downs so do what you want with that and I’ll be fine

Anytime I leave the site I have to sign in again when I come back. Even if it’s 5 minutes….not the end of the world but it’s a pain n the ass.

I really enjoy not watching what I type as closely as I used to. I honestly would have to email Guy sometimes and ask what I said. He’d give me the response and I would understand it but sometimes it was pretty ticky tacky. I just say it did teach me a lesson to watch what I type and if it’s hurtful to delete it before hitting submit.

It’s a awesome site with a lot of good people. I swear if I have a life moment and want advice I hit up non moto and find some wonderful humans in there. Even the arch enemies become my friend when there r things I’m asking about and that really means a lot to have such a great group of people to confide in.

Btw I like having you as the boss here Mike 👍

I would like to see some tech/maintenance videos by some team mechanics, not how to put on grips, more like troubles shooting electrical and fuel injection systems. What multimeter to use, what to check etc....i have a yz250 i can trouble shoot and fix almost everything
My 19 450sxf died and wont start goggled and tried the search, repalced the fuel pump, still wont start, off to the stealership.
Lots of youtube videos already, but seems mostley weekend dudes, and seem sort of duct tape an Safety wire fixes. Want to trust what i see.

Reading is the fastest way to gather info. I hate videos. ......don't care for the up/down votes....I think ML512 is great to have around. He articulates his understanding of a motorcycle better than anyone i've ever seen.

Well I've been here for around 12 years or so and still visit a few times a day. Can't say I have many complaints and could care a less about up/down votes either way. Some dudes just get their rocks off by down voting, but are probably negative Nellie's in real life. I did like the industry insider features, if that were possible again. And maybe a "what are you doing now" thing with former guys. Maybe Poto, Dungey, etc. And bring back Peely!

Been here since the board was yellow…like thumbs up/down, would be even better with a 😢, 🤝, 😂 option. Agree bazaar should have minimum post count before using or some other safety measure. PM sucks but rarely use so makes no difference. More contest for free stuff would be cool 😂

I think the board is pretty good compared to its start. I agree with Maverick's position on up/down votes - makes sense to me.

Wish there was more tech content (maybe in it's own forum) than cosmetic-type stuff. It'd be nice to see some rebuild and DIY content from members - there's a lot of latent talent on the board.

A lot of the bickering seems to come from clicked retreads returning to stir the pot as one hit wonders. Some boards institute a policy rule for new members which restricts their posting privileges for a period of time to mitigate the impulse some have to receive attention.

Gibby's mantra about posting quality over posting quantity is a good core value.

Overall you're doing a good job and deserve a lot of credit for keeping the forum up and running. Kudos to Mav and GD2 for their work also. Miss having Scottie around every day.

I like the change. It seems more relaxed in a positive way. I’m also happy to see that many accounts have been reinstated. “Some”, were clipped for over a year for relatively minor offenses.
Thumbs up and, down. Who cares? We should be able to express differing opinions.
My only real gripe is as previously mentioned, the pm’s seem to go through sporadically.

I think the best part of the thumbs up or down is able to express a opinion about a subject that you barely care about, if it ain't worth the time to type a response and you just click a icon its not a strong opinion so not sure why so many say things like "I don't really care if I get a thumbs down but I want to know who did it" Wink
For the record I will thumbs down any post by Devin Davis or Jeff Alessi just out of principal, or anyone who says "Race Craft" or "color ways "

Really?! Emails demanding to know who downvotes them? I take back everything I said. If people are gonna take it that serious it should be anonymous. Wtf

I feel the same way, especially when somebody gets all ruffled about it. They don't bother me, but when you see them on every single post repetitively it's a bit of downer. But hey, people are assholes.
On the topic of GuyB, I have met him also and he's a super-cool, mellow dude. He was obviously over it at the end and just seemed sick of the people on here.

I don’t post much myself, I just come to spectate… I love where everything is at… my only worry would be as more and more things are being added from other sites, that I hope Pit Bits and these Vital originals don’t get lost in the shuffle. Pit Bits better now than it was the last couple of years… it used to be my favorite - then it was hit or miss for a little bit - but now it’s back to being my favorite thing to look forward to after the races. I hope it never goes away!

One last thing that’s never been - the Bazaar… can we get a “WTB” section? Might be just me annoyed by all the WTB’s lol.

Keep up the good work!

Keep the up-down votes the way they are. Public voting will unleash the drama, nobody wants that.

Change springs and tires in shootouts, as needed. It’s the first thing us regular riders do and it makes a difference. I hate the idea that $250 in springs distorts an honest review. Maybe even add a tooth if needed?

This place is better than its been in years..

To all the long time members or really anyone who's been around these parts for more than a year or so, what's your take on where the site was to what it is now? Content, features, forum, community, etc? I'm quite curious what everyone's thoughts are as the place has evolved, especially from those that have been here since near the beginning.
Wild wild west mode and 100% more fun. The "Bobbymism" app was/is cutting edge.
