If you have money for the 22, go for the 22.

With that said. The deal on the 18 with only 3h is really, really good. You could ride it for a year or two and lose next to nothing. Just in case the 4 stroke thing is not something for you, the 18 is almost a risk-free buy.

22. I had a 19 for 2 practice days and 1 race day and sold it. That chassis was stiff

Buy both. Resell the 18 n make a grand thus paying less for the 22..

I had a 17 and now a 21. 21 is freakin awesome.

At those prices and if you don't have to have the latest and greatest.....get the 2018. That's a great deal

Holy shit those are both great deals. You must not be in SoCal. Lol. The 18 chassis will be stiff but it’s not a deal breaker in my opinion. I don’t know why people piss and moan about it so much. I’m on a 2017 and it’s been a super solid bike all around. The ECU and suspension on that 18 will be a polished version of the 2017. The suspension on both bikes will be really good. The Showa 49mm forks are awesome in my opinion. Good luck

Better yet, buy the ‘18 as it’s a great deal at $4200 and then use the remaining $4500 to buy a 125..

Ended up with the 2018.....just was easier to convince the mrs....with lower cost. except for leaky fork seal and a cracked rear fender (small but still) seems ok. Now to tear down and look at closer.

Will be weird as been on 2st since 09......

Anyone found a good alternative to the dual exhaust? seems like a lot of extra weight....

FYI the 2018 CRF450R is the same design released again as the 2022 Honda CRF450R-S

FMF has a few single muffler systems that include a replacement side panel where the second muffler used to be. I’ve spent some time with one and really liked the look and sound. Pretty sure everything is out of stock at the moment though.

1. Congrats on the new to-you scoot!
2. Don't worry about the exhaust just yet; go through it, replace seals/oil/bushings, spend some time on set-up, and throw on fresh tires (these are sensitive bikes regarding front tire, I'd recommend Dunlop MX3S/Pirelli MXMS/Michelin Starcross 5 Softs). There's going to be an acclimation period after riding your 2T for so long, so don't sweat the small stuff.
3. Drop all engine bolt/hangers/swingarm pivot torques by 10% when you grease/prep; Blue Loctite is your friend.
4. Pro Taper EVO's and your favorite glue-on grips will increase comfort.
5. Enjoy!

Owned a new 18 basically stock & had FC set it up for me. I felt it was a great bike that did everything very well by which bikes are judged off of.
Coming off a 2T it will take a bit to adjust to the different power characteristics of the 4t. I didn’t feel the chassis as being stiff as some claim the 17-20 models to be.
As crc245 suggested, look her over before riding & put some good tires.
Test rode a few 21 models not to long ago & didn’t think the 18 gave up anything to the new bikes. Enjoy !
