How did you like working with Rodney? Is he pricey? I've only heard great things about his classes from people who have worked with him.
Great experience, I'd attend another class for sure. SO much insite on the pure basics, bike set up, bars, levers, tire pressure. The entire day was all about drills, more drills and then we ran some hot laps which tied all the drills into practical application which Rodney was moving around the track watching and making corrections.

As for cost........small group season with a AMA Hall of Fame member, private track for a day and every question you could ever want to ask, from tires to sports nutrition .........sign up, Smith and Bostard are doing another class at another pvt location in Jan.

My home track. Rode it in the 70s. Glad to see some progress finally.

to funny, I was at the Golden
State National at Sandhill in 84
and 85, also the TransCal Nationals
Sandhill used to be a super great track back in the day. Also did a TransCal National race at Laguna Seca in fall of 1985, that used to be one awesome track back then.

Road a Golden State race there on New Years weekend years ago and with the fog and cold it was miserable.

They posted IG that they had a second water truck break down in style. That is what I've also heard around and I hope it's true because fixing a watering truck is a lot easier.

I just left a hearing at the county regarding the permits for Diablo MX Ranch in NorCal, formerly Sand Hill Ranch, it just passed the reopening pending appeal, but this is positive news, the new owners will have to make a few improvements, but nothing that can't be overcome, Great news.

It seems to suggest maybe it’s more then a water truck issue. I know a lot of us NorCal people have offered to help by Gofund me, donations, help etc because we desperately don’t want to lose another track. Especially over towards the bay. Since 408 closed those folks don’t really have anywhere close to go. If someone from Diablo is on here please let us know how we can help. We don’t want anyone to lose their business if we can help....

Got a Sandhill story. They would have a New Years day hangover marathon, and it was a mudder. Some little kid on an 80 couldnt make it up the hill. Kids in tears as he makes attempts and crashes. Its muddy and rutted bad. The dad, probably drunk, says gimme that bike Ill show you how it can climb that damn hill. So dad crashes of course and everyone erupts in cheers. No one could drive out of the pits later that day too muddy

Weird they closed. I thought they just got permits to host races and camping.

Yeah and put a ton of money into rebuilding the track and putting in a start straight, etc.

i did a Gary Bailey school there in '90 and had like 5 hours of riding experience when doing the school. Not the best idea. It poured on the second day and I had to watch from our motorhome.

I now live in Seattle but loved hitting Diablo when I was in the Bay Area. I hope it opens back up.

Word on the street, complaints from the neighbors about the noise. Let's hope not, as that's usually a deal killer.

I've spoke to a lot of riders that don't often go to Diablo because they feel its a lesser option compared to club moto and Argyll.

I wish any track the best, but I don't think raising prices will help getting more riders through the gate.

Here comes the track entry inflation. Once on ups their prices by $5 they all eventually follow. Thanks Biden.

I paid $25 at Skyline MX in Boise over Thanksgiving, and $20 for my 15 year old. 3 tracks to choose from including an extremely well designed, built, and prepped national-level track. 2:12 lap time for a fast young guy, and worth twice what I paid. Wish I lived closer.

Nothing is getting cheaper. It's a tough haul for operators to make a track even break even in most cases. I'd love to own/run my own but it's a quick trip to the poor house.

It amazes me how much useless crap parts or gear people spend money on, yet resent handing over cash to the track owners who take the biggest financial risk to provide us with riding opportunities. Has anyone talked to road race guys on how much a track day costs?

It would be a better option than Club or Argyle if they could figure out the mysterious "how to prep a track" magic. Their track prep is sometimes awesome but mostly not. Since there is no consistency, there is not much reason to show up unless you live close.

I have to drive a minimum of 1.75 hrs each way to any track in NorCal so I am going to go where I have a high likelihood of having consistent prep. The operators at Diablo have not shown that to be the case so my $$ goes elsewhere.
