Man he could ride a bike like no other. 250 smoker vs Rc on 450.

Even though it looks like RC was catching him, he must have gained 1sec alone in that section.

Wow, I don't remember seeing that before. It's even crazier because Stewart is on a 250 and RC and Windham are on 450s. After watching stew, it's insane to think about how slow RC looks in that section.

Go watch Gary Baileys video from Saturday practice. RC actually quads out.

Edit* RC doesn’t quad but does the same thing as stew. It looks a little sketchier on Saturday?

Aaagh....i love these little gems that occasionally pop up. I also had never seen that before. James was a special dude who would figure out thing that left the rest scratching their heads.

Windham won the moto….I watched the whole incident play out, I just happened to be at that section of the track….RC was not happy with JS7….

Same, I was standing on the inside of that section for the whole moto...Actually just about the whole day.

Roczen has done some similar things at Spring Creek. Some riders see things differently. Very cool video.

Even in the video at top, it looks like Bubba is toning it down as the laps wear on. He went from tripling out to just doubling out. I bet RC and K-Dub simply made their adjustments earlier.

EDIT: Were Ricky and K-Dub jumping over that stepup at the end of the section earlier in the race?

While you're not incorrect, think about how much power Stew was giving up in every uphill, especially with the screw u turn, places like that.

The amazing thing is that RC still had the fastest lap that moto, 1 second faster than Stew.

Even more amazing, a year earlier in 2004 RC of course also had the fastest lap of the day with a 2:11 on his Honda 450, but the second fastest of the day in either class? Yet again STEWART with a 2:13.....ON A 125!!!!! The guy was just absolute magic in 2004!

I haven't even watched the video but am guessing it is how he doubled and tripled his way atop the plateau off those breaking bumps. I have always been amazed by that. Just noticed one of the vids is from Gary Bailey. I love his videos.

So good! James was just so damn good at seeing/doing things differently.

Side note. It's interesting watching his two stroke float and pop through the section whereas the four strokes look like they are hammering into the ground. Every time I hop on my two stroke it's one of the first thing I notice (how much more playful it feels vs my four stroke).

Terrible analogy. Two strokes are no longer “modern”. In 2005, they were. James’ KX was fast. He’s not pulling these kind of starts if he’s on something that slow. Was he at a disadvantage? For sure. 18 seconds of a disadvantage? No.
