Filters.

Grease the lips and run old school car gearbox oil- not the trendy piss that gets a bit of fuel mist onto it and runs to the bottom.

Went and rode the sand track I ride at a lot. So much more fun on this bike than my Yamaha. I can carry more speed into the turns and roll the throttle on much earlier. The bike just does what you want it to. I will admit, the suspension / chassis is a bit harsher than the Yamaha, but I assume a revalve will help with that.

Awesome! Honda lookin good on you. Did you do that 2nd oil change yet? Was curious if those particles cleared up?

Thanks! Not yet, only been able to ride it this one time since the first oil change. I will change it again after I ride it one more time and report back.

Anyone here got their fork revalved?

I am looking for some pointers to help my suspension guy revalve my fork this winter,I am not sure what to tell him except id like them more plush.

I am 160 lbs C local rider, riding sand/real soft dirt mix if this can help.

How do they feel to you stock? Just too stiff?


The more real world reviews that seem to come out on these forks appear to point to the fact that Honda really whiffed on the valving for the target rider with this bike, no?

I think the valving is pretty good for me after dropping a spring rate on both ends. It’s hard to build a one size fits all package from the factory.

...but I owned a '19 and a '20 and those forks were really good IMO. I was not alone in this regard as most reviews pointed to the fork performance as a real plus on the '19/'20/'21 models.

I have not ridden a Honda since 16. Coming off the kybs on my Yamahas I would definitely say these forks are harsher in chop but so far with the little bit I’ve changed I can live with the stock valving.

Dropping the forks in the clamps seems to help the rigid feel. I would think your suspension guy would know what to do if you tell him the forks are too firm. If they are too firm it is in the mid valve and/or spring rate.

Yesterday I opened the forks and changed the oils I put 350cc and with the new oils and the smaller amount the fork is a bit better what I noticed was that at 22 they changed the cartridge and made it internally like the 47mm

I’m not sure if it is the bike or the dampers but after 8 hours or so my forks feel a lot plusher.

Yeah the mid valve is just a bit harsh but the fork action and balance is pretty great.

I’m running mine at 3mm but will try 2mm next time I ride. I went softer in compression and it was actually more harsh to me. It’s not a spring rate issue in my opinion.

Honestly if your asking this question you need to figure out the stock stuff more. You say you want it more plush which might mean it’s too soft already and its riding to low in the stroke particularly given the terrain you are riding. Sand and soft conditions require stiffer suspension. Until you know what to tell your tuner your kind of wasting money imo.

Aftermarket works fine, and I think you can use the older Honda perch you just won’t hook up the clutch safety switch because they took it out of the 2022. It is possible the Honda hand guards won’t fit the older perch but that would be the only drawback.

I’m just saying we can’t tell you what your feeling or how the bike is riding. You need to do that. How much have you played with the clickers and fork height? Where on the track do you like how it feels and where do you not?

And what do you feel when you make those adjustments etc.

I have a pro taper xps on it now, kinda liked the way the stock one felt.
