Sounds good. Your issue of getting hot and shutting off is exactly what I experianced when my 79 coils where failing,,about 8 minutes into a race,,screaming it the whole time it would foul plug/die....wait a while for it to cool down and it would fire up and run again. Wasn't my jetting it was spot on. the old coils shorting from the heat. Let us know how it goes /feels under race conditions.

yes i bought the hpi and installed, made a little setup with my dial indicator and timed it. starts good, it was hard to start cold with the old ignition, now fires right up.Seems to run good, I probably wont race this bike again till august so i may try to get it out somewhere and get it hot and...

One plate was cracked at 16hrs so I replaced them with Hinson fibers. This one scattered at 21hrs, so after 5 hrs or 5 rides. Both plates were the inner most fiber. Basket looks fine visually other then couple wear marks where this plate was sitting and kind of dinged it up. I am wondering if there is something not...

Im just wondering why that first fiber keeps breaking, im assuming heat but ive never had this issue on any other dirt bike, I had a 2023 also without any clutch issues. what else could i do to make the clutch hold up better. I dont think ill run hinson plates again.

I’m gonna try to flush it out see if I can get anymore big pieces. I’ll see what the pressure plate and hub look like. I’ve always been a clutch abuser but I’ve never broken plates till this bike.

Steels look brand new still, fibers do also. I had an oem plate crack at 16hrs so put these Hinson plates in. They lasted 4 hours

Cut apart my filter today and this amount of shavings seems excessive but I don’t know. Bike is a 2024 yz250f with 22 hrs new clutch plates at 16hrs. Shavings don’t seem magnetic they won’t stick to my magnet.

I’ll give him another call this week, I just don’t want to be pestering him if he doesn’t want to do it.

Suzuki stators of that era were notorious for shorting out when hot, I always brought a good backup after mine shorted out mid moto... another thing to check is the coil wire to the spark plug cap, the wires get old and brittle.

Thanks yeah, I tried them. Rickystator won’t do it, Rick’s said they possibly could but it would be 6-8 weeks and about what a hpi setup costs. I think I’m going to just buy the hpi at this point.

Talked to him on Monday, he asked for a picture of the stator so I texted him. I never heard anything back so I called him the next day and left a message. Have yet to get a response so I’m assuming he doesn’t want to do it.

It's only a coil, you could rewind it yourself, it's not difficult, if you don't have access to a lathe, a battery drill will do...

Wiring looked fine. Having a hard time finding someone who can or will rewind this stator. May buy a hpi unless someone on here has a shop that could do it.
