With the way things have been going, most riders these days retire then disappear from the sport altogether. It’s nice to see Chad out there with his family at their hometown track and now others. Does anyone have any experiences with other riders being at local tracks that soon after retirement? What was your experience like? Has anyone went to the Track Chad works at and gone up to them? Just curious since it doesn’t seem to be the norm with our past stars retiring and then staying away from the sport atleast for a little bit.

we're friends. i don't think i've ever met someone with as deep of passion for the sport, and that's now being passed down to the kids.
100% chance if the kids interest stays in moto, they will do it differently than the normal amateur program hiding out at private tracks and appearing in public only 5x a year to race amateur 'nationals'. anyone that's followed his pro career, that deviation shouldn't be surprising. i believe moto is better for it the more chad stays around it.
Either way, the family seems to be having a killer time being a local mx and bmx family and that’s just real rad.
Chad has three kids, a wife, and part owner of a track. He has millions in his account and still receives checks from fox. The guy has been loyal to his sponsors and they are loyal to him.
This isn’t anything more than one of the all time greats enjoying his time with his family and the fruits of his labor.
His #22 was established in 2003 (and still current if he wants to ride a 40th birthday SX tryout in, yes, 2022), would be in the top 5 most recognized contemporary MX race number identities worldwide.
He's shrewd and he's giving back.
The marketing I've seen him doing lately is with kids in mind and centered on shaking up the past use by date amateur MX system.
He seems very smart with his money, if anything.
Seems to me he just loves the sport and is stoked his kids want to get involved.

Having Reed around is definitely cool and sort of surreal. I was at a vintage race at Lake Sugartree last month and he showed up with the fam for a night race. My friend had saved him a spot for his rig, so as I was saying bye to my friend on the way out, we were chatting and there I am leaning against Reeds trailer LOL.
He also went out and played cat and mouse on the day track with a young rider (I'm guessing an A or B kid). The kid was all in trying to go fast and Reed was just goofing around with him, it was fun to watch.
Reed has also become very close with our VetMX Foundation, and I think that is just cool as hell given that he is Australian!
If the guy loves riding as much as he clearly does, why wouldn't he want to race the best tracks at the best level for as long as he could?
Doing it off his own back, yeah he had some help, all while knowing that people would totally miss the point and say he was past it and uncompetitive or they didn't know why he was still doing it and all that stuff speaks even more to how much he loves the sport and just wants to enjoy it and keep challenging himself.
I was never a huge fan back in the day, never had anything against him either, but now I can see the bloke is pretty much an inspiration, awesome he's doing what he likes with no worries and just enjoying it still, nothing but love.
