First bike, period? An orange Honda CT-70. It now rests in the bottom of the creek that ran behind my folks house. I built a big jump up on the back yard and hit it as hard as I could (I thought it was pretty fast, but the CT-70 was very slow)...but I hadn't thought the landing through very well. My father was less than happy, but he thought it was pretty funny.

My first real dirt bike was a '71 Penton 125.

Good God! You weren't much into the slow transition into big bikes, were you?

My first actual bike was a '71 Indian Mini Mini like this one (not mine)...

My first real bike was an '82 RM80.

1972. Massachusetts. Dad bought me and my brother a 1965 Honda 150 to beat around on. Pretty much broke every time we rode it, think he paid $75 for the contraption. Pic is not of ours….

78-79? Xr75...still got a scar...but it wasn't from the 75...my mom wouldn't let me ride it down the alley...so I got mad...went to go in the house...and our screen door that had glass in its handle was broke...pushed the door all hard and mad and went right through it and a shard of glass stabbed me in the stomach and I had to go and get stitches..

The only thing I have in common with Bob Hannah is that we both had a Honda 50 Cub as our first bike.

Got this thing back in 2003, or 2004? Either way, cheap, but the bike works nice. Yamoto 110!

PW50, May 1983.
I ride that thing until late 1988, when we found out what motocross was & went to our first proper race meeting and dad put me in the 60 class, a full line up of KX60s and little me on my PW50 in last!

January 1989 we had a new KX60 and the journey really got going.

It was a ripper, but you can’t tell me you weren’t a little bit jealous of your buddies with their water cooled YZ80 (I know I was)!

1980 KD80 (looked just like the 86 KD80 pic from OP).

A year later I got an 1981 YZ80, wow what an upgrade that bike was, so much fun!
