People say the landscape sucks around but it’s literally no different than Glen Helen, which is in the armpit of SoCal. Pala is 30 seconds away from an unreal buffet and nice hotel as well 🤷🏻‍♂️ Seems you Texas folk just can’t handle the fact your tracks suck. And yes I have been there. I’d take riding in so cal over Texas all day long. There’s a reason there is like 15 company’s who do MX vacations here.

Regarding California and Texas tracks. As a long time industry employee, I have brought several SoCal brand managers to visit Texas tracks. Many of them would be foaming at the mouth when we would pull up to a track. It wasn't the elevation that got them excited, it was the loamy dirt.

BTW, I raced the Moto Masters Series at 3 Palms today. Was 96 degrees with 75 percent humidity. Feels like temp was around 105. It was brutal.

So I haven’t been to them all BUT there are so many more tracks here and MUCH better dirt. Freestone might even be low on the list of best tracks in Texas.

I’m not a huge fan of the actual track, but the facility is top notch and in the middle of some kick ass mountain ranges. Oh and it’s a 30 minute drive from the Pacific Ocean one way and 30 minutes from SoCal wine country the other way. There are also 23 million people in SoCal.

Also it’s in the heart of the industry. More people ride Moto in SoCal than any other location in the country. Just because pro teams are going to Florida doesn’t mean Florida is going to miraculously have the same amount of casual Moto riders as SoCal right off the bat: Florida and Texas are great places to ride, but the scene still doesn’t compare to SoCal where you can find a fairly crowded track 7 days a week.

Add all that up and it’s pretty hard to justify putting a race in Jacksonville or Gainesville which is the only two options in the Florida or an hour and a half out from either DFW or Houston which would be the case for either of the two Texas options.

I cannot imagine anyone wanting to attend as a fan, let alone actually have to race on it. No grass, no trees, no picturesque views - just dirt, dust, and rocks.
