Looks like he angled the bike over rather then turning the handlebars to slide the bike through the jump to stay low. Jmo. But still cool it’s on a 500.

Thats the jump at yhe bottom of horsepower hill. I was there spectating in 88.93.95.99.01 and 03. I can still remember 93. There were many guys doing what ward did . Im not here to say yay or nay if its a scrub or not .

Bad Boy RJ did it in 85 over an SX finish line jump no feet, no less.
First time I seen a scrub locally was a dude I raced in the 125 B's in 1989.

RJ was talking about scrubbing in his riding video MOTOVATION sp? I remember reading about it long before James STewart started doing it. He was showing the technique of turning on the face of jumps to stay low. I'm not 100% sure where i saw this but i thought it was in the Motovation handbook or something like that. I'm searching for it but i think the only one that will remember where this technique was demonstrated is RJ himself.

Ok, I know this has been discussed before, but how the broadcasts today not consider this a premier class is beyond me. Every time they throw that graphic on the screen I end up screaming at the screen. Johnson should have 5 and Ward should have 4.

It should especially the years they all did both classes. The GPs are like that too . MXGP wins trace back to the 250 class .

I agree. I don't think it's a stretch to say those four were the fastest in the world at that time. So, by definition, premier class.

What I'm curious about is who creates the graphics during the broadcasts? Who decides that the 500cc class in 1986 isn't a premier class?

Back when America was an unstoppable force in motocross. You can chuckle at these guys all you want, but they didn't lose the MX Des Nations 10 years in a row.

It doesn't get much more iconic than RJ, Wardy, Bailey, Omara, Lechien......I Think it's funny when these young guys list their Mount Rushmore and not one racer from the 80's is on it.
