Who knew opposite corners and hairpins were good for moto-racing, as opposed to one lined road racing sweepers everywhere….
Agreed 100%. I thought it not only looked cool but made for great racing and passing.

Damn I got the perfect spot at our track to build one almost that size. Next Spring. If it doesn't cost me $1000 in lumber. Hammer...

I'm not sure, but you might be thinking of Ferry putting a move on Reed? Click play and watch for a bit and they'll show it in slow-motion again a bit later.

RC made a nice pass at the wall.

One of the things that always strikes me watching old moto is how much tighter a lot fo the turns are... the road-race style of track layout that has sort of penetrated a lot of track changes means that the inside is always better.

Switching corners and keeping them tight sets up inside-out passes. Was great to see it back.

There's a commercial sawmill 200 feet away from our track and I know some of the crew. I usually buy 10-20 yards of fresh fir sawdust every year to work into the dirt. Maybe a few boards will fall off a truck for me. Wink

Did the banners get shredded in practice? Because weren't they gone by the time the races began?

They removed them out of caution that someone might get entangled.

Definitely looks cool but I see a major safety issue. High-siding and smacking a helmet against a wall is not worth trying to look like Bradshaw.

Rigid structures don't belong on the outside of a turn. Flat track has hay bales, road racing has air fences, car racing has tire barriers, and motocross has dirt. Let's stick with dirt. The same shape can be made with compacted soil and a dozer.

Must be fun being this guy. No offense but common bud you’re racing a dirtbike.

I actually endoed in to that wall back in the late 90's. I was coming across the start right next to a couple other guys.. I was holding it on and when I was coming into the turn the braking bumps had gotten so big they was like whoops and I got up on the front wheel and just bam over I went right into that wall.

Freddy Noren busted through the wall and then Jet did too. DC removed the banners before they patched up the holes. He gave me the smaller one Smile

Have to say though, the new layout was awesome, aided by the prep.
my guess, is to stop people who don't make the turn

Its better for everyone (spectators and sponsors), every national track should've at least two wall turns.
