If you had to choose the US MXDN team now after rd2

Edited Date/Time 6/9/2021 11:12am
Ok super early, this is just a bench racing convo for fun.
IF the team had to be chosen now, who are the best American riders to send?

USA I would pick Justin Barcia and Chase Sexton or Aaron Plessinger on 450 + Justin Cooper on the 250.

For France I would go with Ferrandis and Febvre on the 450 with Vialle on the 250.

I would take Herlings, Coldenhoff and Van De Moosdijk for Netherlands

Great Britain would be Ben Watson and Max Anstie with Conrad Mewse.

I would go with Jeremy Van Horebeek/Kevin Strijbos/Jago Geerts for Belgium

Mitchell Evans and Regan Duffy with Jett Lawrence for Australia.

Antonio Cairoli, Alessandro Lupino and Mattia Guadagnini for Italia.

Then Ken Roczen and another 450 rider like Tom Koch with Simon Laengenfelder for Germany.

Then you still have Gajser, Prado as wild cards.

AC would be a no brainer
I am not sold on Barcia yet, AP and Sexton deserve a look, but I am not ready to throw Webb away yet.
Jmart if he is healthy

Justin Cooper 250. Barcia and Sexton 450. AC would be my choice over Sexton but kawi is anti usa and will not support the event.

One thing is for sure, CW2 and ET3 would at best represent Puerto Rico.

AC, sexton, cooper.

AP buckled under pressure last time after talking a big game and a custom haircut for MXDN, I’m out on him, love the guy though.

Barcia is a no brainer for me, because he's gone balls to the wall every time he's gone. The second 450 would be a toss up between AC and Sexton, and the 250 would be Cooper (unless JMart isn't done for the season).

Roczen, Ferrandis, Jett Lawrence.
Outstanding choices unfortunately none of them are Americans and have their own countrys to represent.

That would be a killer team tho! Maybe they are representing Puerto Rico for the win...

Herlings, Gajser, and prado would also be a killer team. Makes just as much sense as what you said..

I would say Barcia, AC or Sexton and Cooper on the 250.

But France and Nederland are going to be strong this year without riders injured:

France i would choose: Ferrandis, Febvre and T.Vialle on the 250

Nederland is Herlings, Coldenhoff and De Moosdijk on the 250

Great battles ahead but again the date of the MXON in the middle of the MXGP season is a not great and will hurt the event for sure...

Please stop putting barcia on the team...we’ve never won with him, that one time in France he won a moto but then in the 2nd moto when it counted he got his doors blown off, other than that his mxdn performances have kinda sucked. Always starts the season super strong and fades towards the end so why is this year any different? Anybody but him I’d rather have A Ray

Barcia, AC and J. Cooper. Barcia needs to figure his starts out. If he can get a good start he can run inside the top 5 all day long.

AC is great at starts and can match about anyone’s speed. Obviously crashes and mistakes hinder him but this is one race not entire series. He can go all out for one race.

J. Cooper- who else other than him or J. Martin would we even consider sending at this point. I think they’re the only two who can finish inside the top 3 250 riders.

It would be kinda cool to see AC, Sexton and J. Cooper and run with the “young guns” thing though.

Barcia, Sexton, and Cooper are my safe pics. I would possibly swap AC with Sexton but AC seems to be riding over his head a bit and making too many mistakes.

MX1: Barcia
Open: AC/Sexton/Plessinger depends on who's healthy.
MX2: Cooper

So a guy has one bad race and that's it for you? He was actually riding well at Red Bud until his had a crazy crash. His bike went off track and by the time he got back in the race it was too late. I would say that mess mentally fucked him for the event. I would absolutely send him again. Barcia wasn't anything special that yr either you know

Man, AC throws away too many races. In the lead, Bam on the ground... Thats a tie breaker for me. Barcia and Cooper have been there before and are good pics! Sexton would adapt well..

I think he got hurt on Saturday and rode injured Sunday. The whole team had a frigging out of body experience that Sunday. I wouldn't judge any of them based on that weekend.

Yeah, not sure if some have a bad memory or I do but, Barcia has done better than what he's given credit for.
