How do those TLD pants vent in Florida? I run Fly Kinetic and Kinetic mesh and both have been very durable pants. The kinetic seem similar to the TLD but do not vent that well.

I have been looking at TLD because the TLD looks a lot nicer to me. Do the GP air pants hold up ok?

The recent trend of skin tight, light weight moto gear that feels as thick as pajamas is great for pro riders who get new gear delivered to the track every weekend, I’m sure. Unfortunately, I’ve been ripping holes in the front of the knees and the thighs of my pants rather quickly lately. These holes aren’t from crashes nor from knee braces (I don’t wear them). Just regular battles in the Vet class. Anyone have any suggestions for some more durable gear?
check your DMs (which i think go to your email)

No experience with the air stuff. The standard GP line was fine even in the dead summer, I've never felt the need to spend extra on gear because it's super vented. The only time I tried vented gear I wasn't thrilled due to the sand making easy work of the vented gear and chafing me up a ton, where the standard GP was too think to let all the particles get through.

You must ride with your knees pointed outward. In my experience, the TLD GP pants wear quickly. I've gone through 4 sets of GP pants in 2 years, all have worn a hole straight through the inner knee area where I grip the bike. The TLD SE and SE Pro lines of pants are much more durable. You get what you pay for.
I never had a problem with tearing through knees, though I do usually start wearing through graphics in about 15-20 hrs on the shroud, so I would say I grip a decent amount. I'm not a knee brace guy, I just wear EVS pads and always have.

My kinetic mesh has held up way longer than it was probably supposed to. The mesh liner is all torn up but the actual pants are in great shape still.

Gotta say I have a pair of TLD and the pants are definitely thick and seem durable

I think the Fly Kinetic line is the perfect vet mx gear. Roomy but not loose fit, durable, and colorways that don't look like clown vomit.

I will vouch for the gas gas pants. yeeted myself into a lava boulder field last sunday, got some fat bruises but the pants were somehow unscathed.

Troy Lee Designs SE gear. Toughest out there. Their cheaper models are ok. But if you want durability, nothing beats their SE.

The Fly Kinetic line has always been great for me but my 2021 pants have this paper thin material in the knee which tore in a tip over last weekend. The previous set of Fly pants had reinforced knees that took multiple beatings and never tore right through

Was it the mesh vent? I put my handlebar through that a month ago.

I still train quite often in a '05 Fox 360 that has thousands of hours on it...
I gotta admit it's starting to get a little worn out...

Just wore their SE Pro Boldor Honda gear on The Rip to Cabo. Cactus, falling in the rocks...more cactus ...more rocks...
No snags, rips or any other damage other than maybe a few blood stains...

I've had good luck with TLD stuff but my kid shreds them. Bought a set of cheap Thor stuff off MXlocker and same thing. We both wear knee braces but I think the issue with him is the second hinge on his Least braces is up higher out of the leather. I don't have the issue with my CTIs.

I think those are their “adventure” pants (like their expensive snow mobile gear...

These are what I use...and they are bullet proof (so are Mohave jerseys)...for the same price as the top of the line stuff from other gear companies.

No, it's the really thin light weight stuff that surrounds the mesh vent

I’d say Klim would be the toughest. I don’t run Klim gear anymore because I don’t like feeling like I’m wearing a potato sack for pants. I’m all FXR now but it’s not gonna be as durable as something Like Klim Dakar pants.

Purchased a set of Thor Terrain pants last year thinking they would be more durable since they are marketed as XC/offroad/adventure pant. Stitching in the back of the pants came loose after second ride, was able to exchange them and the second pair did the same on the very first ride. Luckily was able to get refunded but now I have an oddball jersey that doesn't go match any of my gear. Oh well, hopefully they changed the design moving forward but frustrating.
There was a bad batch of those and they all pulled apart at the seam. There is a new version now.

It’s amazingly tough.

What is the fit like? Similar to the gp line?

I bought a couple sets from the Fox Legion line - (1) set last year and (1) set of the 21' stuff. IMO it's a great in between for moto / offroad. The pants are built heavier, but still have the optional vents (zippers) and they also have pockets. The jerseys fit really well, snug with nice material, but still light enough to be breathable. I've laid the bike down on hard pack a couple times and the pants didn't take any damage at all. Plenty of space for pads / braces in the knees as well.

I don't like really "loud" designs much either, so it was nice to find some gear that was sleek and simple with a few nice colorways.

Yes, the fit/sizing seems identical for me (34 pant/L jersey). The material is kinda stretchy and seems pretty damn tough.

I second this! TLD GP is very good quality and has been very durable. I actually have a pair of TLD SE gear from like 2009 or so that looks like new still (other than the blue camo is out of style).
