Copper Webb jumping style

We’ve all seen Webb’s insane ability to stay low in the corners, but what does he do to noticeably stay lower than everyone else on the jumps. He doesn’t scrub necessarily harder than anyone else, but he looks like he flies so low. Just more intensity?

It's just because he's short. Makes it look like he flies low. Also, much like RC, he's shorter and lighter than all the guys. Less weight is so key especially on the start. Imagine if he had a 20lb weight attached to his back like Tomac does (because of his height and body weight). Extremely huge in starts, training, diet, everything. Small dudes have a huge advantage, especially when they cut down the whoops every week.

He really doesn’t though. There were many instances on Saturday where Mookie was staying noticeable lower than Webb

so interesting how nobody has taken js7 style to another level on the 4 strokes. tomac has 0 scrub on big jumps. it looks as if he doesnt care how high he gets. cooper seems like hes working hard everywhere.

I see him pushing through the lips with his upper body and rolling his wrists and elbows forward going off lips.

He is usually a decent starter but like we saw last week he doesn’t always nail his starts.

As far as his jump style. He just flows well. Doesn’t really need to over exaggerate staying low. He just keeps his momentum going forward. This extreme scrub business is way overrated. Takes energy and has a bit of risk involved. You can make up more time learning to corner better.

This. Plus there’s a lot more to speed jumping than just the scrub. Even James did not scrub every jump. The extreme gyro effect of the scrub only works in certain situations and isn’t sustainable on every jump for an entire race.

It’s possible to stay low and jump faster without scrubbing dramatically. MC and Reed were really good at this and so now is Cooper. They’ve learned to use their legs to soak up the suspension return on the jump faces better than some. This allows them to jump all jumps fast and then scrub when or if needed.

Hey remember that time Webb passed Tomac and pulled away? Oh wait, that’s never happened once. Tomac always gets bad starts because he’s a big guy. We’ll see what happens outdoors when starts don’t matter as much.

Marv is 4lbs lighter than Coop and just 1" taller- so if we use your theory that smaller/lighter riders have a massive advantage, why isn't Marv the champ?

If smaller/lighter riders have a massive advantage, how did Tomac win last year?? Or did he just put on 20-25lbs this past winter?

Struggles in the whoops because he doesn't "have those long legs for leverage"... joking btw

Marv is the best argument you have? He is obviously a tier 2 guy.

He passed him just about everytime they left the starting gate this year?

The Dunge was also really good at staying low whilst not looking overly flashy.

He’s pushing through the jump face with his upper body and absorbing as much of the jump as he can with his lower body.

Not since these PRIDEFUL men retired, these guys hung it out every time they rode. They wanted to win every race.

The fact that you said tomac can’t get a start because he’s not a midget is insane lol your whole argument shows everyone here that you have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about. You’re also saying that factory Red Bull ktm’s MM25 is a second tier rider. He just won? Lol. Kyle Lewis was a taller guy and he pulled holeshots like nobody else. Your “theory” is simply wrong and you are embarrassing yourself buddy.

That's what Red bull KTM loves, consistent guys. Which is kind of lame I'm more of a fan of the Stewart/Barcia type riding style.

I was just thinking about the Dungey and Webb comparison. Seems like the goal to jump low is to absorb a lot of the upward trajectory with your body. The scrub is more of a way to absorb that energy with the bike and body. Dungey used to mildly shift his weight to one side of the bike and absorb that energy with his legs and by shifting his weight down when he jumped.

Dutch guys' a tard.

Stewart also went on to win this HEAT race by 3.3 seconds, which is 11 times more than the gap from Marvin to Cooper last weekend. But sure, today's guys just don't try hard enough. The nostalgia goggles some people wear on here is ridiculous.

Tomac 5'9"
Dungey 5'10 great starter
Roczen 5'11" great starter.
Adam Ciancarulo 6'1" great starter on same bike.
