A little story for you guys...

Over the weekend I was up in the area where Mayson lives with a good friend; driving back to his house we passed Maysons house (growing up in the area I knew exactly where he lived when Hammer posted his address).
My friends 15 year old son is in the back seat and said "oh yeah that's Maysons grandpa's house." Apparently they go to school together.
I asked if Mayson was a good kid and he said "Yeah he's really nice to everyone"
Those of you with teenagers know that's pretty high-praise.
Just wanted to share that little story. Made me feel even better about this whole thing.
who was the 15 year old in the back?

Hello this is Mayson Watkins the kid who received all of the kind donations from everyone. I just wanted to hop on here and say how much I appreciate everything I got and how much I appreciate all of you. This is the kindest gesture anyone has ever done for me and I love our moto community! Thanks to Mike and everyone who donated and interacted with this thread I now have two sets of gear, custom gloves, custom parts for my bike, well working parts that were probably needed on my bike, oils, cleaners, sweet aesthetics, and $2200 dollars for track fees, new parts, new gear, and anything else I need. That is a crazy amount of money and a crazy amount of money spent on all the parts and gear! All this for one kid? Doesn't seem real. The amount of joy and happiness this brought into my life is astonishing. I cannot put into words how much I appreciate everything that was done. Thank you all.

-Mayson
What a great reply Mayson. Politeness and respect for others will take you far in life.

E St is awesome man, enjoy it! Especially before it's 100*+ in a couple months.
I'll be out for a couple months still, but once I'm healthy I'll definitely see you at the tracks!

Looks like Tulare at the Temmerman’s to me. That was the 10 RMZ. Good bike, good times.

The Soccer-Dad thing is real!

And, it's time to start spinning wrenches again! Most important, Mayson's been having fun on his scoot this last few months.

Went over to Mayson's Grandpa's (w/Mayson) tonight and updated / assessed a few things. Just a short trip.

- pulled the wheels off so we can get the new rims / spokes installed
- swapped out 1 foot peg, the other had a little bit of welding (including spring / pin being welded)....a little more R&D needed.
- grips
- hour meter's at 77.8. Time for oil / filter. We started at 69.2
- 3DPmoto.com (JM485 vital) cable guide looks great!

Have a good weekend everyone!

Wheels are done! Just an FYI for anyone who might be considering the Tusk rim and spoke kit, I had to drill the hub out just slightly since the Tusk spokes were a bit thicker than stock. Not a big deal at all, but something to keep in mind. Overall a pretty painless build and I’d say they look pretty damn good!

Also, Ted deserves a major shoutout for taking the reins on the later portions of this build, he’s been working on getting this all organized for a while now and I think this was one of the last outstanding tasks.

Those look sweet!!!! Yeah Ted really took this ball and ran with it. I appreciate all he has done. I’m too far away to help out. We still plan to get Mayson and his bike up here this summer and we will be heading that way for Hangtown for a special weekend. That will wrap up this thread, although the journey will continue for Mayson long after I am gone. And he will remember. In the end that’s all we leave behind

Absolutely. The fact Mayson took the time to come on here and say thank you is tremendous. That's character.
One day he'll have the opportunity to do something for someone else, and he'll remember why. Pay it forward. That's all we can do for the next generation. Lead by example; this thread and all who helped are the epitome of that.

Mayson is racing at Sac Raceway tonight for the first time in quite a while. His bike looks sick, and is totally ready for a night of racing. He's confident that he has the equipment to do the job. Ted says his practice starts were on point so here's hoping he holeshots at least one moto and has a great ride!

He had a blast. Rode schoolboy u16 and 85 13-16 beginner. Bike worked great. It was his first race since he was 8 and first with a clutch and shifter. His gates were 10-15 riders.

He doesn’t know where he placed cause it was almost midnight when they finished and everyone was too tired to wait for results. But he doesn’t care - he can’t wait till next Friday!

Mayson sent me a short video, took a couple (blurry) screen caps.

Looked liked fun! That’s him (3rd pic) on the way inside with a nice 5th place start. 👍
