Nice start!
Did we ever get him lined up with pegs?
I’m on it if we had not.

I don’t think we ever did pegs Tim. I’ll update the list tomorrow and add them and the Dr. D pipe, and Ted’s most important gift - time and effort.

A little historical background. Mayson (L) and my boy JB, 8 years ago on the day we finished building our private track in Shingle Springs, CA. Still friends to this day, even with 600 miles between them. We will recreate this photo at Washougal and Hangtown this year.

@Ted722, you sir are a legend👍. It’s easy to put some cash/ or parts into the put but giving up your time, passing on knowledge to help this young man is priceless👍

Noticed in pic we forgot the JM485-3D cable guide. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Got the bike back to his place last night because of my work schedule and the fact he’s riding Thurs. and possibly Sat. too.

Sprockets/Chain
Rotors/Pads
bleed brakes
Levers/Plastics/some bling
Shift lever / Rear brake pedal
Air/Oil filter
Engine oil
Trans. oil
fixed hour meter (wire came loose off sedec hour meter)
How dare you!!! Laughing

Bike is looking awesome, glad you guys made good progress on it!

Hey Hammer
Pegs are rolling.
Man I need to really see if I can find some pics in the archives of you and JB.
I know for sure I have some of you both at the Oatfield and maybe DT1

Just received some updates from Mayson's ride today (perfect conditions/weather here in NorCal)

Sprockets / Gearing - What we took off was a 54, the new sprocket 56 gets it back to stock gearing.
Mayson; "bike was great, could really feel the difference with that sprocket."

Levers, Brakes
Mayson: "I didn't need to adjust anything and brakes were super nice."

Hour Meter (fixed it)
Mayson: "I think it went up an hour or two, but I didn't check it." Smile

Looking forward to freshening up some more stuff on his bike in the near future.

I told him to make sure it's clean when you get there. I never let any of the kids I wrench for bring me a dirty bike - if they do I refuse to work on it until they clean it. They all have access to my pressure washer, cleaning kit, and blow dryer/towels. I have taught them all how to clean a bike properly, including chain and airbox, dry the bike, and lube critical points. Part of the education of the younger rider.

Just a quick update. Weather has been good in the Sacramento area, and Ted and Mayson did round 2 of bike work. Mayson has been spending a good bit of seat time on the new build at his Grandpa Rick's, where they've rebuild the old track that his uncles used to ride on. From the vids I've seen the bike runs and sounds great, and Mayson is starting to pick up the pace pretty well.

Even better. some of his buddies have also picked up bikes and they are all riding together. That's what it's all about!

What a great read. Found this post looking for a local suspension shop. Been wiping tears from my eyes for 2 hours reading every page!

Anything else they may need?

I just talked to him. He said he could use a set of grips or 2. He's shredded a fresh pair with a few recent crashes apparently. Wink

I swear, if ever there was a contagious thread or post this has to be it. There is a lot of heart and emotion overflowing from this one. And to think most of the general public looks down on guys that ride dirt bikes. Ha, if they only knew. This is something a local news program should pick up on. The dirt bike community in general are made up of good people. If you don't believe it go back to page 1 and start reading this whole thing again. If you do your eyes will probably start leaking.

Mentioned to a friend what’s been going on here. He went into his sticker stash and sent up some stickers for Mayson.👍
I’ll get them over to him this week.

Keeping in touch with Mayson. He’ll be offline this weekend (friend’s birthday), but looking forward to getting more stuff done.

In the meantime, updated the lights on our Jeep.

Got new lower led fog/combo and upper led floods wired and ready. Should have no problem seeing at night now!

Hello this is Mayson Watkins the kid who received all of the kind donations from everyone. I just wanted to hop on here and say how much I appreciate everything I got and how much I appreciate all of you. This is the kindest gesture anyone has ever done for me and I love our moto community! Thanks to Mike and everyone who donated and interacted with this thread I now have two sets of gear, custom gloves, custom parts for my bike, well working parts that were probably needed on my bike, oils, cleaners, sweet aesthetics, and $2200 dollars for track fees, new parts, new gear, and anything else I need. That is a crazy amount of money and a crazy amount of money spent on all the parts and gear! All this for one kid? Doesn't seem real. The amount of joy and happiness this brought into my life is astonishing. I cannot put into words how much I appreciate everything that was done. Thank you all.

YES- Moto mx / Vital community is heart touching with the effort and gifts made, as Mayson says.

I think its damn brilliant. Have read every post on this thread.

You enjoy your bike, gear and life Mayson and ride safe! Have fun.

Credit to everyone who has contributed- big time!
Stoked with the result as expect thousands are who have followed this amazing effort to contribute.

Really restores ones respect for people- really decent and caring folks, whom it seems are plentiful here who have made this happen. Its an AMAZING and touching contribution. Credit to all those involved.

A little story for you guys...

Over the weekend I was up in the area where Mayson lives with a good friend; driving back to his house we passed Maysons house (growing up in the area I knew exactly where he lived when Hammer posted his address).
My friends 15 year old son is in the back seat and said "oh yeah that's Maysons grandpa's house." Apparently they go to school together.
I asked if Mayson was a good kid and he said "Yeah he's really nice to everyone"
Those of you with teenagers know that's pretty high-praise.
Just wanted to share that little story. Made me feel even better about this whole thing.
who was the 15 year old in the back?

Colton Dawson.
I'm still in a cast from surgery on a torn ligament, but we will definitely try to get all the local-ish guys out for a ride day man.
