Understandable that Steve laid low, could be career limiting.

This wasn’t Rutledge’s first rodeo and he came in ready for bear. Jumped in the pool and made a big splash that only a belly flop could produce. Emphasis on flop.

Le Cobra gave him a reality check most understood, but Rutledge clearly did not. An opportunity to establish a connection with the moto community wasted....almost deliberately so.

Steve did not have to pile on because he knew DV was enough. To be professional enough to play along but savage enough not to cut off what DV had to say.

I'm not blanketing everybody but I believe if someone out of our sport were to come in and get our seal of approval, it seems on a basic level... we would have to respect them. They would have to be championship caliber, badasses in their own craft and have a REAL history of watching the sport and riding.

Rutledge isn't really good at anything and lowkey arrogant/I just don't like his face. He's never loaded a bike in a truck, never taken a bike off a bike stand, never went to a dealer to buy parts. Even his post of his LS swapped Porsche just sounds like hes reading off a brochure. If you ask him any in depth questions he wouldn't know shit.

I was curious if DV was able to hear Rutledge under everyone talking...DV said "if he didn't know me before he knows me now" . At one point I thought I heard Rutledge being so butthurt he cried out "yeah well I don't know who you are either"

Anyways after that segment, if I was his boss he'd be getting the axe lol

Just can't wait for Butledge's next segment where he explains what helmets are and why riders wear them.

And next week we'll talk about gloves! Have you ever heard of those? Of course you haven't, you're just a stoned idiot watching dirty bikes on TV, but let me help you!

I was totally even keel with the dude from watching him on Top Gear, etc..... but he came off like a total dickbag on the Pulp show... DV wasn't much better, but we already know DV's personality. Dude clearly is here on assignment and is totally DGAF about what our audience thinks of him. Which is fine, he's got plenty of other paying gigs lined up I'm sure - but clearly he has a certain arrogance about his brand, otherwise he may of tried being just a tad more humble.

as far as the argument for making the sport "more inclusive" for the casual fan - What are the metrics that measure how effective that fluff is???? I sure hope there's as much effort going into actually pulling in the "casual fan" as there is distinguishing between the green Kawi from the red Honda

I like him and welcome people crossing over from other things into our sport. Like him or not, he is more famous than Supercross and can only help us.

But some of us are clearly too cool for him and our sport needs to only be core track rats. That's what I'm reading here. We've got the best ever on the broadcast and how much shit did so many moto bros still give RC for the first few years he was sharing the booth? Some people can't ever be pleased and they really like to tell people about it.

Look it or not, Rutledge was right when he said the core fans are going to watch the race no matter what. We don't need to cater to them. We need to cater to the people who don't know what's going on. Top Gear was successful because I watch it because I like cars and my girlfriend watches it with me because she likes the banter between the guys. You need to satisfy both sides.

The last part is such a bad argument. The core fans are going to watch anyway so who gives a shit whether they actually enjoy the product we put out on TV or not? It’s such a poor attitude and no other sport in the world does it. Get someone on TV who can accurately describe what the riders are doing and why, then the viewers will gain a greater understanding of the sport and more appreciation for the skill level required to compete. That’s what will keep them coming back. Anything that they don’t understand past that they will research for themselves if they are interested

This is a dumb statement.

Nobody follows presenters and change their viewing to watch the new sport or show the presenter is working on. Rutledge will do nothing to bring new fans to the sport in his current role.

If they want more viewers get our sport they need to get kenny, webb, roczen on top gear and feature them to a new audience.

You will not attract new viewers by promoting your sport within your sport. You need to promote it outside of our sport in other motorsport programs.

I can't think of an announcer or TV person that hasn't been eviscerated on this forum. If people ripped on RC, they'll rip on anybody.

I'll see your Rutledge take (keep him out there) and raise you at least 2 live segments during Peacock's no commercial breaks. Sorry NBCSN viewers.

The downtime (during commercials) could be used for anything technical or not (Webb just changed his clutch lever, in the pits stuff, or on the track stuff).

And no, not Rutledge doing these segments. Could be Matthes or Weege, something like that.

As DV said, hard core fans (for the most part) signed up/pay for Peacock for the extra (RDL, all 17 rounds live, etc.). These commercial break live content segments could be gold for the subscriber base fans and NBC. In the limited time that there is for a live show and the rushed field reporter segments, something like this would work.. It's a win-win.. Satisfies both sides. Change my mind.

Currently listening to the pulp segment and man, this guy needs to go. Seems like he’s trying to generalize supercross or something I don’t quite get what he’s saying, a lot of it doesn’t make sense. And I think he’s a bit ignorant for him to call fans and people of the sport insecure. Also he was trying to say he wasn’t butt hurt but DV clearly got under his skin. He needs to go be a jackass someplace else.

I'll agree with that. Instead of Rutledge or any of the other filler segments we've been given, what if they had Weege, Jt$ and Matthes doing something like this after the heat races. They'd give new fans the insight they would need to make our races more interesting. Casual fans probably don't even notice the flaggers or pit boards.

Cancel culture isn't a real thing. It's just people exercising their rights to watch/employ whomever they want in a manner that hurts your feelings.

As I said in my initial post, I def respect Rut. But having listened to Pulp, DV is the voice of the ppl (as far as real MX audience. ) it's brutal but it's true lol. DV is the man.
