I understand some of the disadvantages, but would anyone disagree that it might be safer? Even if it's by half a wheel, it would give those who are fastest (say in the heat race) the ability to stay out of harms way 'more' after the start? Opinions?

We talk about headsets, but large organizations like F1 and Nascar also have staggered start positions too...

I don't even think it would be safer and I think it would be way worse racing. Terrible idea this is motocross, this is how it's done, leave it alone. That had nothing to do with the start. Jmart made a bad decision and Amart crashed. It happens.

Were the triple crowns were also a bad idea?

I’m all for it. I’m also all for changing the format to be closer to outdoors so that 2/3 of the racing isn’t just for gate pick.

Triple crown is closer to outdoors format as far as each minute on the track is for points and has all the top guys in it the whole time. How it is now is essentially qualifying.

And with the nature of supercross starts are so hugely important so should make gate pick actually matter. I’m for it.

It would be better racing and safer.

It would be a knee jerk reaction and totally unnecessary .

How many races have we seen a top guy get a start, and the only people capable of battling him buried, and it’s a run away snoozer of a race. It happens over and over and over.

Make it so the top guys all get out and battle with each other tooth and nail for every lap of every main.

There would be better battles throughout the entire pack.

Because getting a good start is part of racing and having that skill is part of being a racer.

Should we take out whoops too? Some racers are good at them some aren’t

You are replying on emotion, there are no guarantees that a good rider that gets a bad start battles for the win otherwise.

Sit back and enjoy the race

I'd rather see them get rid of the starting grates.

This isn't NASCAR or F1 this is SX/MX where everyone is on the same gate. Go find another sport if that too scary for you.

Doesn't a guy starting on the 1st row of F1 win about 90% of the time? That's why the racing is so boring nowadays.

Hamilton is like the Kalib Russell of F1. No, not boring.

Like I mentioned, it's an idea... Something to explore...strange how some resist ideas so much though.

Hamilton is an average driver in a far superior car. Put anyone else in there, like Bottas or George Russell, and they win.

This makes zero sense. Bottas is in the same car and doesn’t win as much as Hamilton

That just proves that Hamilton is better than Bottas, not better than anyone else. George Russell had a ~9 second lead on Bottas when he replaced Hamilton with only 2-3 days in the car.

I fail see how it would be a safety factor.

Both. Make technique and gate pick a bigger separator.

You said put Bottas in the car and he wins. He has the car, he doesn’t win.

George Russel had the car and didn’t win. He will though given time because he is a good driver.

If you remove the best person from any sport someone else wins.

F1 is not a level field when it comes to the equipment, but Hamilton’s ability is what has him in that car over any other car.

Same as supercross, Tomac is on a factory Kawi because he is one of the best riders out there.

Didn't say it was better...or worse. No different then Tomac vs ACs bike.. Similar, not the same.

In this case it would be bad but there is no way in hell they will even consider your idea, so you and a couple others who try to fix what isn't broken should just get together and you can come up with all sorts of answers to questions nobody is asking.

They don't have the same car/settings. Also, if you can't see that they clearly play favorites with Hamildouche, well I can't help you.
