PulpMX - Indy SX 3 2021 Review

I usually like a little banter between JT and Matthes but my god Matthes is unbearable this week. The way he hones in on the tiniest words that JT says makes him sound like an emotional teenage girl. I struggled to get through this one.

I almost had to skip that part and fast forward. Probably the worst 25 minutes in the 10 year history of these race reviews.

Matthes was awful - wow. Kudos to JT tho, he has tons of patience with this dude having a fit about nothing?

It’s amazing how Matthes managed to let that drag on for nearly 25 minutes without letting Jason give an actual take on it or to break down what happened. Great radio bro

I would be embarrassed to publish something with myself acting like that. I love almost all pulp content, but that was rough.

I love how he was essentially blaming JT for it going on for that long as well.

Steve tries to make every incident into a debate like First Take on ESPN where he is Stephen A. Smith. He always takes the unpopular side of a debate no matter how ridiculous. Then never backs down from that ridiculous side of the debate. It does get old after about 2 minutes.

Maybe Steve was just having a bad day. It happens.

Steve sounded like he got out of the wrong side of the the bed he sounded so angry, JT is a saint for keeping his cool I would have hung up the phone and you can tell Weege was keeping quite not wanting anything to do with it embarrassing for all involved for sure.

Yeah i think Steve walked in with an agenda on that one. I think JT would've been better off just hanging up and calling back next week.

I also don't understand why he even did the review pod in the first place, assumed we weren't going to hear from Pulp until Orlando or whenever he can attend next. Don't you need to go to the races to actually have an opinion and talk about what went down? I mean that was his whole point when it came to Gypsy Tales wasn't it?

These reviews have been going down hill for years. It’s no longer a review of the race, Its now about feeding Steve’s ego and recapping his experience and status at the races. This is a huge opportunity for a competing podcast to take over. Anyone?

JT has strong opinions but talks in circles trying to not give a definitive stance.

Steve was trying to make it a “was Vince trying to purposely take out Barcia” argument when it’s so much more nuanced than that

Guess I’m in the minority here, I love listening to them wind each other up..
seemed like Steve was trying to get JT to crack, but JT kept his cool and kept coming back at Steve with silly questions getting him more worked up.
I think if you listen to the shows a lot you would know that that’s just the way these 3 are.. I love when they go off on a random tangent..

Something was off with Matthes for the whole podcast. Just seemed like he was in a funky mood. I agree with what others are saying, it was a hard listen.

You guys realize JT and Steve have debated Friese many times in the past, right? Steve had the theory on the Pulp show years ago that Vince gets grief because he does not "Party In Temecula", like he is the uncool guy that no one wants to be friends with. JT has had a personal history with Vince, and for. sure it cannot be eliminated in his bias. Steve thinks you look at these incidents in a vacuum, as isolated incidents. JT thinks you consider the body of work. It's just 2 friends going at it in an argument. I can guarantee there was already a text thread happening before the checkers flew between them and they were already well engaged before doing the race review pod, hence Steve coming at JT with both barrels.

Reminded me of my wife (married for 24 yrs) when I've been away for the weekend and she's in a sour mood, looking for a fight about anything until we have a screw and it sorts everything out. Not sure if that's an option for Steve & JT but it works for me.

I'm glad someone posted a thread on this because I thought the same exact thing. I finally had to cut it off. It's almost as if Steve kept going back and forth on what he was saying, I couldn't even keep up with who was on what side. I am pretty sure they stoke the debate fire pretty hard but this was almost seeming like a safe word situation, lol. Way too much and it was annoying for sure.

JT thinks/knows Steve’s ‘Friese in a Vacuum’ take is ridiculous and likes to poke the bear because deep down Steve knows it is a poor take but is too stubborn to admit it. Similar to how JT likes to remind Steve time and time again how he thinks Roczen isn’t a title contender this year.

Just a couple friends having a little debate over something that doesn’t matter. Does no one else argue over stupid shit with their buddies just for the fun of it?

If you listen past the Friese debate, you can tell there’s no hard feelings:bad blood between the two. The show goes on like it always does.

I skipped a lot of that one, "I just want to hear the moto stuff".
Also I listen to most Pulp things, but honestly I'm very happy I didn't take my wife or friends to the Live show in Indy. The first 40 minutes they talked about the AirBNB and how JT and Wege are odd. I couldn't see a situation were me taking a guest to that show (that has never heard it before) would like it coming out of there. I really do like their content but the banter between Wege, Him, and JT about coffee and other personal quirks just needs to end. Especially on a live stage where you need to be picking up listeners.

Steve is very dug into his "In a vacuum" theory and its becoming almost personal. What I mean is when JT and Weege question this theory or provide evidence against it instead of Steve taking in the info and rationalizing it, he just goes into a weird attack mode instead of just admitting he was wrong and moving on.

I will admit i listen to the majority of what Steve puts out but these are unbearable. This one was super terrible and Steve was as childish as i have seen him. Kudos to you JT$ for not ripping into him.

Wow. Just plain wow. That wasn't a heated back and forth. That was a butt-hurt dude with an ax to grind looking for a fight. Wonder what the real issue was?

I listen to him many hours a week and often wonder, how does this guy keep a relatively good mood all the time.
Makes me feel a little bit more normal hearing him have an off day. It was an uncomfortable segment, and I agreed with JT for the most part. He didn't even mention the H1 issues between Tomac and VF. That means that pretty much every race this year VF has pissed someone off, held someone up, or crashed into people.

Typical, Matthes bloviating and JT not getting the point. It just sounds like an old married couple bickering about what color sofa they should get.

How do you argue intent? That is in effect what Steve was implying. Did Friese intend to do Barcia/Tomac harm? Would he even admit to it if it was true?

JT was arguing that Friese has a long resume of doing things like that and you should balance the latest incident, with his past shenanigans to get a sum total of his dirty riding career.

It was 30 minutes of talking with no result, except there is a thread about it.
