We've been hit hard again in the UK by a new strain of the virus and are in our 3rd national lockdown. No racing for a minimum of 6 weeks now. I really hope this doesn't make its way over to you guys in the US as it will likely have an effect on the sx and mx seasons ahead. Can't wait for this nightmare to be over and get back to riding again
That strain was confirmed in the US at least a week ago.

Did anyone see where the entire NCAA Basketball Tournament (or March Madness) will be played within the state of Indiana? They are doing a sort of "expanded bubble" like the NBA did in Orlando in order to try to thread the needle for a month of games in the Hoosier States, with all of the teams staying in the hotels attached to the Indianapolis Convention Center, which was where all of us motorcycle industry folks stayed every year for the old Indy Trade Show...

No I didn,t hear that. I was a basketball star, they do nice things for players. Bit of money in 9th grade already, if ya need it. Athletic director,s wife, standing in for my mother on parents night, because she worked 3-11. I,m not surprised there having the tournament yet. Don,t care much for basketball anymore. Still Love MX, guess I knew what I was doing.

I'm back, I got:

1 Front Tire
2 Rear Tires
O-Ring Chain
2 Spare Masterlinks
Air Filter Oil
Engine Ice *Seemed right since EID essentially inspired this panic run
2 Oil Filters
New Rim Locks F&R
Front Brake Pads

I'm sure nobody cares but it's about as relevant as some of the other posts in this thread Tongue

Extra(new) rim locks? Really? I mean unless they are dry rotting or you really torture them changing tires. I obviously have never ridden hard enough.

That was more of an upgrade.

But I do get a pretty consistent slip on my rear tire so I’m hoping maybe a new one fixes that so I don’t have to reset the valve stem angle every few rides. If it doesn’t my plan is to go to 2 on the rear.

The other sports are tightly controlling traffic and player contact.

That doesn't happen here and not saying they should.

Only saying not comparable.

SLC was total lock down, that worked. Now they're not doing lockdowns. Who knows if it'll work OR if the state or local government will allow it to go on

And a few riders have already tested positive...that trend will probably continue
Agree that the trend will continue, especially with the PCR test amplification levels being so high/sensitive that they are not at all reliable.

All this corona cancellation talk stresses me out, I'm headed to the dealer to buy some tires, oil and spare parts so I can keep riding for awhile after the supply chain shuts down again.
Supply chain issues are becoming a huge issue. I'm a cyclist these days and shit is getting tight in the bike industry for certain things. For example, go online try to find a Shimano 11spd XT/Ultegra level chain. This is likely the most commonly sold chain in the entire industry and they are scarce in N America. Big brands like Trek and Specialized have frames built waiting for parts from Shimano and SRAM. Small brands and custom builders are getting screwed even worse.

Some buddies and I were speculating on WhatsApp that bike part hoarding is going to be the new toilet paper hoarding Laughing I'm sure supply in the moto industry has its holes right now too.

Ya, bicycle industry is imploding. Guys trying to order new MTB in town here are being told 2022, e.g. Trek Slash, etc.

They are aimed at slowing things down so the hospitals can cope, not to get rid of the virus. Our only way out now is to slow it down and roll out the vaccine as fast as possible. At some point enough people will be immune and the spread will slow down. I'm on the fence about all of it, I just wanna ride my bike Whistling

Your talking to people who couldn't point to Britain on a map, it's pointless explaining to them our situation.

Back to the original point of the thread....2021 Cancellations.....this is a big one for those of us in the North West. 2 years in a row we haven't got to go to the insane event that is the Desert 100. So lame.

People would laugh at you for wearing a surgery mask if you were sanding a board while wearing it, but that same person would yell at you for NOT wearing one to filter out a virus that is a few microns in size😂 A plague so insidious that NOT HAVING SYMPTOMS is literally a symptom. In my (comparatively) small Kentucky town there have been hundreds of cases, and a few (very elderly) deaths, but none of our TEN icu beds have ever been filled, nor have bodies been stacked in trucks outside. Everyone around here is sick for two days and then fine. My wife had it and had to quarantine for 14 days with me, my 17 year old son and my 7 month old son (yes I have a new baby at 49 years old😂) and we never got sick.

Just a clarification because it is asinine that the world is nearly a year into this and people still do not comprehend the function of masks related to the virus.

A surgical mask is not intended as a form of respirator to filter the virus in order to eliminate breathing it in.

The mask is primarily for those that knowingly or unknowingly are infected with the virus, mostly unknowingly because those knowingly infected SHOULD not be in public settings; therefore, by wearing the mask, there is significant reduction in spread due to the barrier that impacts breathing/speaking/sneezing transmission from that infected individual. Still, though, hygiene is an important component as well.

Think of the mask as a condom, not a respirator. Geez, we need to be better people.

People who understand how exhaust packing works and how an air filter works, struggle with how a mask works

You can not stop a virus!! It is going to have to run its course. We did not cancel life with the flu, and we can not with this either.

I am attending the Daytona 500 and the Daytona SX/RCSX. It is going to be interesting to see the restrictions for the 500. I know they are limiting the number of people in the stands. Not sure about infield camping for the 500.
I take it you stayed at a holiday inn express last nite cuz you one smart mufucker.

The incoming political power structure in DC is going to cancel everything on day one. 100 day lock down at a minimum.

I went to the Citrus Bowl game on new years day at camping world stadium in orlando. They let in 15k and there was nobody sitting close to us. Also nobody checked our tickets so we sat at the 45 yd line (we had end zone seats). They did enforce mask wearing.

Yup

But, I notice we stil have statisticians, virus experts and folks running on about masks & what-not.

No worries. It's just that I thought this side of the forum was "Moto"...not a place for arguing about this stuff nor concern ourselves with each-other's opinions or positions about anything other than...

Moto.

Carry on.

At-least I know that this thread ain't for or about anything worth worrying about. Grinning
