Long story short I had to get a car for a previous job.. well fast forward two years I beat the car to piss and now I ride almost every weekend that im out of college I really could benefit from a truck. I have an old yukon that costs me nothing I use with a moto jack. Although she's a 6.0 with 160k miles and she's tired.. I have been told after the first quarter both our industry and the car industry should be back to "normal" inventory. I have a solid job, not a ton of expenses, and have 6k I can put down. I have waited all of covid to get a truck but im tired of waiting and feel like my car and yukon are ticking timb bombs. So do I man up and wait for who knows how long.. Or man up, bite the bullet and try to find a deal (LOL) before tax refunds or potenially more stimulus? Truck prices are driving me bonkers.

If you like Ford get a leftover 2020 F150. Pretty good deals currently. I bought one 2 months ago. If you are looking at used its kind of SOL., the used market is SO HIGH right now. I bought my new 2020 for the price of used 2018 and 2019.

Whatever 2020 truck floats your boat...& should be avail for a song.

The best “do it all”, in my opinion, is a full-size crew-cab w/6.5’ bed. From a purely Moto standpoint, an extended cab long bed is the most productive (load 5 bikes in the bed with the tailgate up!).
Hell, you can get a good deal on a Transit or Sprinter Van, too!

Ford has the Ranger avail for some really good deals, too. I’ve got a Colorado ZR2 and it’s a great little truck; but, lately GM hasn’t been very good on the “warranty” side of things...so, I’ve been getting Ford’s (they’ve been amazing on warranty and maint. stuff...from Raptors to Transits, they’ve been awesome).

I think you can find deals, just depends on model and location. I just bought a 2019 F350 Platinum for $66k with 8100 miles. Window sticker from the guy before me is $83k. Glad that I didn't take the initial drop in value.

I think you can find a deal but it will take a lot of time/work. I just saw the same Ram I own listed for almost the same price I bought mine for brand new a few years ago, wacky.

A someone who work in sales for a huge global manufacturer, I can tell you that the market and inventories are not going back to normal any time soon. If you can find a decent deal on a new leftover truck built prior to COVID, snatch it up, because with as slow as new vehicles (motorcycles and otherwise) are arriving at dealerships this year, I anticipate that barring a full on financial meltdown, demand will exceed supply for at least the first 3 quarters of the year, meaning that there likely will be no “close out deals” to be had for a long time.

I had a 2016 Silverado and a new body 2019. Both had issues. The 2019 was a huge turd. I ended up lemon lawing it because it was so bad. GMs customer service was terrible too.

160K miles for a GM LS 6.0 is not tired if it's been taken care of. These are 250k motors easily.

I was in the same boat - waited and waited and searched and searched... prices are out of this world right now. Luckily 2 months ago I found a deal compared to what’s out there and pulled the trigger. I don’t regret it.

If you don’t tow anything, the 2020 Ridgeline is great. Honda is selling them with 0 percent interest now for 5 years too. You should be able to get an all wheel drive one for 28k.

2021 has a better looking front end, should be out in a few months.

How much are you wanting to spend? Do you care about resale? Are you just buying it so you can haul your bike? Multiple bikes? Are you wanting to do other things, like offroad your pickup?
A few months ago I bought my 2020 Tacoma double cab short bed 4x4 trd offroad, after an idiot blew through a red light totaling my 2015 tacoma, for $35k out the door. I love this new 2020 more than any truck I've owned before. The one I have is a crew cab, short bed, and does all I want it to. The bed although small, fits two bikes and all our gear perfectly, cab is much larger than in the past and is pretty comfortable with some cool new options, and because it is a mid size truck with a short bed, it's easy to keep it as a daily driver and be able to park downtown.
That said, if you often use your truck for things like hauling lumber, heavy payload in the bed, or towing a lot, I wouldn't get a tacoma.
My personal vote is Tacoma, but I am toyota tacoma fan boy so take my opinion for what it's worth .

I had a 2 Chevy Colorado's until I bought my wife her 4Runner. After driving it for a little while I knew it was time to trade the Colorado in for a Tacoma. So far it has been the best truck I've had.

I have a 2020 GMC Sierra 1500 for a company truck, it was new when I got it, the quality of my Tacoma puts the GMC to shame.

Wouldnt buy a new truck. Find a nice 2012-2015 f150 with a 5.0 and youll be set. Would be less than 1/2 the cost of a new one.

0 percent on the ridgeline is a sick deal. I have a 17 and it’s a great truck.

I'll try to answer everyone in one post, First off I would like to keep it around 20-25k. Next to the tacoma guys, I test drove a 20' and was completely unimpressed for 35k. No hate, I think tacomas look sweet. I need something I can bang out 80k miles on in 6 or 7 years. Then hopefully have more income at that time I can buy something new. Van life ain't for me, I also am young so factor in the cool factor. Also I understand that a car/truck is the worst asset you can own. For me I am choosing to spend money on something I like. I drive a good ammount for work and work out of my car on a hotspot occasionally so I need something comfy. I have had a couple GM trucks and have kept them in great shape and they always treated me well. But open to dodge, nissan, & ford.

Exactly, so stupid. It blows me away how many people just accept a $500+ vehicle payment as a never ending cost in life.

the new GM trucks have an issue where the electric brakes randomly fail(there was a huge recall) and the current 6.2 motors are eating lifter springs left and right. Imagine spending 50k and within 500 miles your engine blows and GM tells you, here is your subpar loaner for 3 months because we can't fix your truck.

My 46k silverado was worth 31k 9 months later and with 15k miles. That 6k you are putting down will be instantly gone once you drive the truck off the lot.

I now drive a 2015 Tacoma. Its a basic truck but the resale value is wild on these. I could sell my truck for 25k when it was 30k new 6 years ago. And it has 80k miles on it.

I know people frown on leasing but if I were to buy any new American truck I would lease. Drive it for 3 years, turn it in and let it be someone else headache after the warranty expires. The new American stuff just isn't what it used to be as far as quality.

3k
25 mpg
No payments

Edit: if I had a few extra grand I would have bought as new of a Tacoma as I could and be done with it, American made cars tend to be sacks of crap, but I’ve had good luck with the couple of s10 chevys I’ve had over the years

For 20-25k you better get a Ford. I would get a Tundra for my next truck if I was looking for reliability, but I think most of them will be out of your price range depending on how old you want to go. I would get a RAM if I am going strictly by looks (2019 and newer, the older models were ugly as sin IMO).

I own a 2013 F-150 5.0, it has been great, its 7 years old now and only 67k miles on it. No real issues. I would avoid an F-150 newer than 2014 though, the aluminum body from what I have read is much more costly to repair when you have damage.

Chevy/GM have had electrical/electronics issues from I believe 2014 on. I have passed so many newer Chevy's 2016 and newer for sure, that have one headlight out. Notice how many times Chevy has changed the design on their headlights after 2014? My guess is cuz they can't figure out the problem.

Try Enterprise car sales.. They can even price your trade in right there. You can own a 2018 or 2019 for a lot less than new.
