Who is the Face of our sport?

NHL: Crosby/ Mcdavid aka McJesus (In canada lol)
MLB: Mike Trout
Moto GP: Valetino Rossi maybe (Marc Marquez in some circles)

So it got me wondering, Who has the got damn torch for our sport SX/MX??
The 4 who had it are pretty much gone: MC/ RC/ CR/ JS

The person on the verge of taking that helm in my opinion was Ken Roczen, Before his arm injury.
The sport tried to push Jason Anderson into being the face of the sport, but he seemingly didnt like the attention.

Which kid will be able to bridge that Gap and get it on the verge of the mainstream?
We don't have one. The field is as stacked as its ever been, I can tell, # whosnext, #drop the gate
f I didn't love motorcycles Id hate this sport.

AC has the potential to make it big though.

I don't know if I'd call James Stewart the "face of the sport", but I still remember being at a Dallas SX several years ago with a friend who was a media guy...up in the press box, talking to a hotshot Feld guy. He said that they could count on gaining an additional 30% of the usual ticket sales, or losing at least that many if the fans knew that Stew was or was not going to be racing at any given event. That kind of pull is impressive to say the least. He was a popular guy to dislike, but he made a huge impression on the sport.

Dungey? Not really.

I'd say the "face of the sport" is either Roczen or AC.

Give it a couple of years...and it'll be all AC.

I was dialing in the peacock app on my TV, and they had some SX wrap up videos from last year to watch. Underneath a video, it shows who is in the episode, like a TV show would include actors. The SX videos only had one picture - Ken Roczen. Also, underneath his picture it said "actor", which I thought was kinda funny!

James was also a popular guy to "like". Tomac is the poster boy for American motocross at the moment.

honestly there isn't one right now.

JS7 was the "man" only because if he lined up, it would be exciting with him in it.

With all the heavy hitters now, ET3, KR, MM, JA, AC...none of them are a sure bet to be in the action. Any of them could pull a brain fart and roll around in 6th. JS7 was in 1st, or he yard saled it to be in 1st. ET gets bored and pulls a 5th because....reasons. So there's no sure bet at their involvement in the mix. My .02

Moto is a tough one. If you’re considering the face of the sport to be a high profile person that has the sports best interests in mind and works to improve upon the product, promote it to the general public in an effort to grow it, and generates new ideas through educated thought, brings those forward for review and sets the good ideas in motion, hands on, then it isn’t any of the riders. No, not even Ken Roczen.

Apparently some have decided that the face of the sport should be the racer with the most Instagram followers. 🙂

Anderson has an awesome personality.

In the GP’s, Cairoli is well known. Herlings is not the biggest fan of the media. I see Prado as a rider that could attract more mainstream sponsors in the future.

In your mind if someone disagrees with you saying Stewart is the face of Mx it must be racism...Get off your fake high horse.

How about Stewart is not the face of our sport because he up and disappeared for a couple years...literally can’t be the face of the sport (unfortunately a missed opportunity)..

I haven't read this whole thread, but I still think the most recognizable and influential SX rider of all time, who has held that title to the present day, is McGrath.
This guy could probably show up on any current major network talk show and represent Supercross. For the casual fan, it's about lifestyle and personality, not race results. Nobody in the general public knows who Dungey is. Nearly everybody knows this guy, and he's still banking on his name and face today.

Years ago talking with my dad I was surprised to find out he knew who both Roger DeCoster and Bob Hannah were. He's never been a fan of motocross either. He's 73 now and doesn't know any of today's riders.
