Why do the European 125's sound so much cleaner. Don't get me wrong there are some 125s here that sound badass but, they are usually ktm/tc. I've tried searching for an answer but couldn't find anything, so i figured someone here had a better insight. Is it the pipe, jetting, the air pfft I have no clue.

different camera models, different track surfaces, one track is open the other lots of trees, different encoding methods and streamed video quality....

A lot of things go into why two bikes sound different across different video clips.

Funny that in America the clean sounding ones are "mostly KTM/TC" when those are notoriously harder to jet than the Yamaha.

Go to Motocross Action's Youtube page and watch all of their videos of their 125 builds. They all sound amazing (all brands)

Here is a pretty clean sounding american YZ btw.

One of my favourite videos to watch is Cyril Genot flat out around Lierop. He must have a 520 main jet or higher.

For one, many of the EMX125 bikes are actual factory bikes or close to it. If the US still had a pro 125 series, you still might be hearing that crispy sound here.

From the pitbits emx125s, it was interesting that all the factory 125s were running rhe stock mikuni carb despite so many experts saying its a crap carb

Watching these video's just makes me want a 125 pro class again. Even if they ran shorter moto's than the 4t's, squeeze it in. They aren't hard on the track and they stir the soul of motocross... Want big time motocross to grow? Create the 125 class again.

I agree, KTM should spear head that with somewhat of a Junior Cup like they did in Moto America with the RC390 Cup. Although I was told unless you had some good financial backing KTM slaps you with an Invoice at the end of the yearWhistling

There’s definitely a big difference in the sound quality between the two vids. Also Lierop flows a lot more and is sandy, so the bike is wide open and working harder than at Muddy Creek.

However I think what you’re hearing is also a difference in tuning. My guess is that meatier sound from the euro bike is super high compression, jetted richer with retarded timing for more grunt and top end, that is also safe to pin in the sand. Most of the American bikes sound leaner and sharper, but less grunty. Out of all the vids posted above, Brownies husky sounds the closest to the euro bike.

I,m sure all the emx 125,s have a ignition, that changes the sound a lot. Watch Kay de Wolf rip a sand track on a yz125, super fast. Or Maks Mausser 2018 ripping 125 at Cukrea, #731. At 55 seconds, that is awesome corner speed. The emx yz125,s sound the best of all the bikes. There running on crappy unleaded fuel too.

I've heard plenty of 125's here in The States that barked. Listening to a PC 125 warm up on a nice summer morning at Unadilla back in the day is something I'll never forget.

I can see through this whole thread...the OP's question is just a flimsy excuse to post a bunch of gratuitous 125 videos!
I'm on to ya mate! ..pisser of an idea btw! People who don't love 125's are just weirdos...we know that as a fact!👍

125,s have always been the best racing and most exciting class to watch. It is mind blowing that there is no 125 pro am series. In 09 when nobody wanted a 125. Aztalan Racer X vet series weekend. They added a 125 class, at the last minute, they had 38 riders. No restriction on skill level, pro, expert to c class on the same gate. At Millville in 2020, a Wi. Rider qualified, everyone is excited to see 1 bike. 125,s need there own 12 round series, with new and unique classes.

Euros with tighter noise regs meaning longer length with deeper note and quieter mufflers versus the usual USA standard go-to shorty muffler with loud raspy note.

Please bring a 125 class. I think KTM just needs to create one more brand and they’ll bring it back (LOL)

But forreal, the MC125 looks like a great bike, and I’d love to see the Euro brands all go line up against a couple YZ125’s...oh and if Suzuki had any sense they would bring one to the gate as well Pinch Silly wishful thinking

Was waiting for it. No more than a KTM, Husky, Gas Gas or whatever is next on the shopping list.
