That right there is pretty cool. Would love to see how this turns out.
Its worth about 4k the way it sits. Parts are really hard to find because they are so rare so I might clean it up and display it for a while and they sell it when I get tired of it being in the way. Don't want to kill the value of it by doing a half ass restoration

I was actually wondering about that. Something that old has to be pretty hard to restore given the rarity of parts. Either way, it's really cool.

Restoring 2 KX65s for my boys. My 8yr old likes AC and blue, my 10yr old wants to be Tomac.

It’s a Yamaha this year for me. A 2017 YZ250 two stroke that was too cheap to pass on (£2.6k or $3.5k). Mechanically it’s superb with a main dealer receipt for £1200 in parts (OEM cylinder, crank etc) but cosmetically it needs the neglect polishing out of it. The hardware shop bolts and cheap filler cap are for the bin. Easy project.

Last years project: a 2014 CRF450X with smashed engine cases after the kickstart cracked and took out the inner case. Absolute junk design. Rebuilt the engine (and the rest of this nail) and the profit from its sale was quickly reinvested in a new driveway 😂 Too heavy for me.

Love seeing all of these.
I planned on doing a ground-up resto on one of my 2000 CR250R's this winter. Unfortunately my industry (Corporate meetings and events) has been shut down since March. Being on furlough, I'm just hoping I still own them both when I do return to work.
I'll live vicariously thru your projects over the next few months.

It’s tough selling bikes due to financial hardships if that is indeed your case. I’ve done it a few times and it bothers me for quite some time afterwards. Hope to see your project/projects in the future.

Thanks buddy. The pair of CR's mean so much to my son and I, that they will be the absolute last to go if I can help it. I really miss my job, so fingers crossed life can all get back to normal soon.

My son has a CR 125. Not matching but, a Honda nonetheless lol. I sold a CR 500 a few years ago. Times were hard but, responsibilities had to come first.
Unfortunately!!!!!!!
If you can keep your bike and move forward with it as a project, I have a lot of new in the package, OEM Honda hardware, along with miscellaneous titanium hardware I’ll give you a fair deal on. Oh yeah and F COVID. It’s affected me as well with missed work and hours. Feel free to pm me. I don’t want to derail the thread out of respect for the OP. Take care man.

Does that feature the dual -range 8 speed transmission- or was the 185 that had that oddity ?
I think you are right about the 185. This is a 5 speed. My son bid $35.00 on the storage unit and this bike was between two mattresses. Score! I traded my son a Remington 1100 for it. The bike has an OHV sticker from Missouri and ended up in Grants Pass. It only has 2000 miles on it but was not well maintained. I rode it down the street when I got it home to NorCal, but the center case gasket leaks. I owned a 1974 TS100 in North Dallas as a teen. I then owned a 1974 RL250 Trials bike in the 80's in San Diego. Same basic engine as the TS. (still regret selling that one) Needless to say, a bit of sentimental value on this find. I am hoping to get this one back together by Spring.

Raced an 83 RM250 in San Diego. I put an 82 head on it for higher compression.
Loved that bike! Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

Way cool bike to restore. I raced an 86 250MX. I had an opportunity to ride the 90 prototype at a practice track in 89. (Palm Ave. San Diego) Did KTM still run the magnesium impeller on the water pump? Very poor design. They would corrode.

Not sure if I'll get to it this winter or next. Supposedly parts are still available.
