I think if he can figure out his starts & get over what has plagued the last few 250 yamaha champs (Webb & Plessinger) coming up, then I think he can win a race in his rookie season. Not a big fan of the guy, but he's got the best chance to be a rookie sensation if he can control it.

If Dillon was on a KTM450, I'd say he'd be a regular podium threat. On the Yamaha... top 10s
I’m putting my money of the the Chris Farley “fat guy in a little coat” theory but changing it to “fat bike with a little rider” with DF14. Much like Cooper Webb and most fast guys coming off a 250, it takes 2 years to figure it out before they are a threat on a 450.

Wasn't the rumor a few weeks ago that KTM was bringing a couple of 250s under the factory tent, and Drake was getting one? Can't remember who the other one was rumored to be, though.

Max Vohland will be the only US factory KTM 250 SX-F...look for Drake to be on a existing team but that is new to the pro ranks for 2021.

Gotta say, i don't understand why JGR haven't gone the Austrian Factory Services route. Especially now when there is a third brand in GasGas. They could lease a proven package from them that is probably the best in the class, no headache involved.

One thing is for sure, sticking with Suzuki is just a waste of time. They're late to everything because Suzuki wont commit in time and there will always be question marks once the outdoors season is done whether they'll pull out or not. The same will happen next year again, and again and again.

Of course sticking with Suzuki with full long term support as their factory team is the best option, but nothing indicates that happening. So they'll probably in the exact same situation one year from now even if they go racing with Suzuki in 2021.

Kevin Strijbos was running a RMZ450 this year.

With support from a Suzuki dealer in Germany and Technical Touch. I think he posted on IG before the season that Suzuki had nothing to do with his program, only the German dealer.

Yup. I think he was hoping to get some Suzuki support for old times sake. It's a shame he was plagued by so many injuries this year. Now I'm not sure we'll see him again next year now. Let's hope I'm wrong.

I was more just adding the fact that there was another Suzuki in the GPs than the RM250 tek14 saw Smile

Did forgot Strijbos but he did not score any points and havent seen him at races. Had to check and his best was 21 place in uk at round 1 for 24 overall. He did 2nd round but after that got injured i guess.
Malin said on last round of emx250 2-t that guy from Canada was doing great with RM250 from year 1995... last year they made those.

That was Kade Tinkler-Walker, a Canadian, on the RM250.

Always in the top 10 each Moto, mostly within the top 6, with 1 x 2nd place, and his overall standings dinged a bit by 1 non finish. So currently 7th, with, I think, 1 round to go?????

Motocross success, thankfully is still, and will always be, heavily weighted to rider ability, over the bike, but, when you see how competitive a 2005 model bike, in the Yamahas (and now the 'Fantic' 125) with the barest (biggest being the forks [and shock?] in 2006) changes over 15 years, and the Canadians Suzuki (I don't know when the last 'generation' of the RM250 came to be, but I did see them on showroom floors into the 2010s here in OZ) , going up against current model KTM / KTHuskies / KTGeeGees, it does make one wonder about the amount of genuine 'progress' in bike design. Who'd even contemplate running a 2005 model 250F competitively against todays 250Fs at high levels of racing ..........? Woohoo Whistling

I’m pretty sure Suzuki is providing $$$ to run the program and they don’t have the sponsors to do the leasing program

Also, JGR has always been about making and offering products for the bikes they race so I dont think it would make a sense to lease a factory bike that’s already got all the engine work and hard parts sorted.

Wow, that's interesting. I thought that with Honda's love of Japanese riders in the States, they would have found a place for him. It'll be interesting to see what he can do on a PC bike if the rumor turns out to be true.

It’s true, he tried the bike last week at K2. It would be low salary for next year since it’s a 5th spot but Jo doesn’t mind it. He just want a good bike right now.
He is still waiting for the phone call to sign the contract but it’s 99% sure.

That is great news! Also saw some photos of Carson Mumford (I believe) testing a Honda but with Enzo KYB forks. Maybe it was his own personal bike, I don't know which Honda team runs Enzo KYB Suspension

So excited for Jo. I've been waiting so long to see a Japanese rider that can potentially contend for wins (I wasn't around to see Watanabe in the GPs). I see no reason Jo can't be a podium contender on PC.

First of all Shimoda looks fucking smooth. He might not showed the flashy speed of Jett Lawrence, but he always seemed to be in control. Definitely a great rookie year. To me it looked like that he was overall more comfortable in SX than in MX. I think it will be just a matter of time when we see Shimoda leaving his comfort zone to battle with these guys up front. So yea, I'm excited aswell!
