Eli Selling His GT3RS

While most of my track experience is in a 4S, the little run time I had in a GT3 suggested to me that one of the key but under-reported upgrades to the GT3 was the removal of 5th gear as an overdrive. That change alone drops a second or two from lap times, especially on tracks with long straights. Of course, the awesome engine and perfect handling help, but, as an amateur making the comparison, that would be the mod I'd make to my basic car before anything else. By comparison, it is like the difference between an XC and an XC-W on a motocross track. On the W, everything is great until you shift into 4th, then you wait around for the engine to catch up.

As for the GT2-is-better talk, unless you are an exceptional driver, you should always be faster in the normally aspirated car. Frankly, it seemed to me that the only way to drive a performance turbo fast would be to have three feet.

Agree the GT3 is easier to drive for most, but if you are a good driver the GT2 takes the cake.

Once you learn how to drive a go kart and race competitively you are always searching for a car that feels like one, and not a Cadillac. I've driven many many cars and the closest thing to a go kart is a Radical, but the Porsche GT2/GT3 are amazing street legal production cars.

This is a testament to how amazing the Porsche is...the ring is an aero track and that SVJ has an active adjustable aero package made for downforce. The lambo should wax the GT2 by more than 3 seconds given it's aero advantage. In fact you'll see a slightly modified GT2 for aero ran a 6:40 at the ring. The ring is not a track to identify the top track car as there are no other tracks like it that we race on.

Any normal size track and the Porsche walks away from Lambos, Ferarris, Mclarens, etc, and any small tight track they all get spanked.

Go to 3:40 to see the driving start. I am in a stock Porsche 718 Cayman GTS on street tires trying to catch a 991.2 GT3 on semi slicks. I was only about a second slower but this made me realize I wanted a GT3. I did beat my fastest lap in this car. I had driven a Nissan GT-R, Cayman GT4, BMW M4 and 997 Carerra 4 S.

iRacing with a proper sim setup is cool and all...but it's still a computer game and not even close to racing on four wheels.

It would be neat to see a video spot on Eli running this thing. Sounds a bit more exciting than "What did your cat do today?" with the Musquins.

I got a sprinter van with not one but two turbos and I’m fast as fuck. Gotta keep ‘er on the pipe

I'm talking about stock production cars, not heavily modded race cars. And yes I believe the new C8 is very impressive in stock form, which makes the much more expensive Lambos/Ferraris/etc even less impressive.

Anyone who knows cars knows the Porsche dominates the tracks. You mentioned Monterey....the GT2RS is at the top just 7 tenths below a million dollar supercar. The closest Lambo is 1.7 seconds off the GT2RS. That's not "holding it's own", it's called getting spanked just like I said on any track that size or smaller.

How do you know which cars I have driven and have not driven?
