I just saw this on the CBS evening news. It could explain why the Covid numbers continue to rise even though there r mask being worn. I see mostly bandanas and cloth mask when I’m in stores/restaurants. I don’t know why they are not producing enough of N95 type mask to supply the masses so we may get a handle on this virus. It’s pretty etty obvious all the home made and cheap crap varieties are not doing anything and in fact could be making things worse. I picked up a 50 pk of throwaways at Home Depot the other day, they are probably worthless

It’s hard to know what to do or believe when the rules are changed on a daily basis.

No matter where you stand on the COVID situation, we should all realize this event is going to hurt an already struggling key segment of our industry. It will be in the spotlight for national/world news till it ends Sunday. Hopefully it doesn’t continue another 2 to 4 weeks due to a massive outbreak.

84 arrests, 226 citations and 18 crashes reported in 24 hours at massive motorcycle rally in South Dakota

How is it going to hurt a “key segment” of the motorcycle industry? The last place I would ever want to go is somewhere the attracts 250-500,000 people but I have no problem with those that want to attend. It’s become pretty obvious that this virus explodes with or without mask. The arrest numbers are extremely low for that amount of partygoers. nice to hear it is drug/alcohol related arrest and not violence/robbery/theft. Amazing there are no fatalities with that many bikes riding around the streets/ Sounds to me like they are behaving pretty well up there and the town welcomed them with open arms 👍
If this turns into a super spreader shitshow which it has a real possibility of doing, it will not only harm a segment of the industry but it will label all motorcyclists in the US as ignorant tattooed dumbasses. Before Honda came along with their "you meet the nicest people on a Honda" ads the prevailing image of motorcyclists was the Marlon Brando Wild Angels drunken lawbreakers. You guys can argue how benign the arrest numbers and DUIs are, personally I could care less, but this has the potential to make us "all" look bad and set industry and our sport back 50 years if people start getting sick because they are too stupid to protect themselves.

""F*** covid I went to Sturgis"

hehe he

Just to be clear the cartoon picture (cool artwork) I posted you notice I did not say "A Buddy of mine"

I said I know a guy and it does not surprise me that he would go there at all.

In fact I'd be surprised if he did not go but on the flip side I just found out a guy from work that I know who is the complete opposite a manager and with a family very straight laced.

I guess he went with his wife! Now that surprised the hell out of me, all types are going. Dry

. So what is going to happen to set “our sport back 50 years” ?

People will forget about Sturgis as quickly as the news stops running the same video over and over, which will be within the next few days after the next “party” gets filmed by a cellphone. Our sport will not get set back one day, let alone 50 years.

And if you think the people that look at motorcyclist as “ignorant tattooed dumbasses” would feel any different about us if they saw a clip of the races at Lorettas this last week you are crazy. There are “motorcyclist” and there are people that hate motorcyclist and one week at Sturgis will not change that one bit

The only guy I know who went is a straight laced nerd who rode up from San Diego on his Gold Wing. I’ll have to let him know he is a “tattooed Dumbass”

Just as with the news media there are a whole lot of people out there who paint with a really broad brush. You could be right, no one's mind will be changed, but it can't possibly help. It's easy to stereotype people. It's even easier when you give them a perfect example.

I believe we are all stereotyped already. The non motorcycling public is ignorant of what motorcyclist really are. They do not understand the difference between a kid on a KTM 50, a tattooed old man on a Harley or the athlete on a SX track. We are on motorcycles so we are all stupid....period

The media tried their best to portray the Sturgis riders as a bunch of evil idiots who set out to spread the virus. Well those 250,000 or so would be behaving the same way wherever they came from. If they are the type who don’t feel like wearing a mask in Sturgis they are
most likely not wearing them when they are back home either. I personally don’t believe the numbers are going to spike after this rally any more than they did after the protest/looting/riots. Of course we will all have to depend on what the media decides to tell us, truthful or not

But the mass riots and protests have no effect on spreading. They’re such hypocrites.

The moment they allowed and justified mass protest it's a free for all.

I raced the Rally MX race on Sunday with my oldest son (I've never missed a Rally MX yet). Turnout for the MX was a little light, but not much. Downtown was busy, our numbers are only down about 5% from last year. Few people wearing masks, most of them probably could give two shits about what people say about them, though. Our hospitals are not at all overwhelmed, so any spikes we see won't be a problem. This rally may actually finally give us the spike we were promised for the last three months.

I see it as pretty stupid yet predictable. The ol, "ain't no virus gonna keep bikers down!"
