Are you guys serious? He’s a media dream for any sponsor. Look at all the endorsements he’s had over the years. He has a million followers on Instagram, which is a pretty decent following. These social media influencers now make very good money, a million is likely on the low end. And good for him for earning it, his bike talent is something you can find yourself re watching a zillion times in awe.

I don’t have any evidence what he makes really.. but kawi, seven, bell, alpinestars, Toyota of Escondido, monster, Whatever Harley shop, Plus whatever other sponsers, plus all his social media stuff. Those companies all pay premium for exposure that he has made for himself.. I’m not taking away that the dude is a badass rider. But I think he makes more than y’all think, freeriding and have a good time doing it...
I agree. It wouldn't shock me a bit if he made well over a million..... You can't watch a Supercross broadcast without him in a commercial at least 3 times, that shit pays VERY WELL. I'm not a huge fan of FMX, but this kid has found a spot where he is happy, gets tons of exposure, and seems to be living a very comfortable life all of us would love to have at any age. His talent level literally arrives in railroad cars, and he's built all this riding a dirtbike, with a smile, and freedom to be himself......all while watching his bank account grow by the day. God Bless this young man, keep him safe.

He raced Monster Energy Cup in 2015 Amateur All-Stars race.
Finished 17th Overall going 21-13.

After that pretty sure he realized the effort + Reward just wasn't there.

Love all these people talking about his racing skills, when he had a better AMMY career than 99 percent of people on this forum. Qualifying for LL in B, A, or pro sport is fucking hard. Very few people have ever done it and those people who sure as shit aren’t going to make light of the accomplishment.

Anyone that qualifies to go the "The Ranch" in A or P/S is a bad ass. Just saying.

Axell is a great talent but I have never seen him actually do more than one lap. He and his filming buds just keep cutting the track and filming giant whips.

I'm sure he could be a decent racer if he ever applied himself, but he has so much talent in jumping the bike why would he take a step down to just grind out practice laps?

Not all talented dirt bike riders want to race.

And, unless he's hiding all his money, It's unlikely he is making a million a year, last I heard he is still living with his parents in Olivenhain and driving a beat up chevy van.

Not trying to be rude to you but he isn't driving a beat up van. He might drive one when he goes free riding in the public so d-bags don't vandalize his nice vehicles.

Here he is in 2018 with an absolute legend, twitch... Axell is driving in a new tundra which was most likely given to him.

Here he is in 2020 with twitch, in an even better tundra which he probably got for free as well...

Only 1% of people who race profit income wise... Most LOSE money trying to get to the top. Racing is the easiest way to become broke or in debt unless you are born into a rich family who can commit 100% to traveling you around at like 3 years old.

I'd argue fmx guys make more money than racers... They can build a jump wherever post it on the internet and collect passive income, if they are good enough at it sponsors will come, and it's mainly being crazy... Racing forces you to drop everything and travel everywhere which is impossible for most...

Good on him for finding a way to make a living riding dirt bikes and having fun without having to deal with the endless training, injuries and consistent risk of ending your career that comes with racing dirt bikes professionally. He's making hundreds of thousands of dollars winning XGames gold medals and having a fan base with his social media presence. I remember looking at pictures of him throwing whips around 2009 when we had mutual friends and I was just thinking "damn... this dude can throw some huge fucking whips" and look at him now.

Some dudes would rather go big off jumps than scrub a jump... Just like in the auto racing world most guys who race hate drifting... Lap time vs style.

I'd way rather wake up and be in the metal mulisha or nitro circus and be able to chill with friends and go big on jumps than constantly battling and hating everybody on the track and worried about if my supercross team was going to drop my sponsorship for losing a race by .500 of a second.

Ricky C was known as being the biggest A hole ever, even to pastrana at the suzuki test track and wouldn't let him even on the same time in case he would "learn something." That's how you have to act if you want to be the best at racing... Not chill at all... But he is a Goat due to that competitive prick attitude.

Different types of personality's... I notice most guys are trying to race supercross on here... It's just two different styles of riding... Axell is a beast at what he does. Not knocking you race guys either.
I'd way rather my boys take the Hodges route vs the pro mx one. Get paid to playride? That's pretty much a dream come true. MX is about having fun riding getting paid would just be a bonus. The racing risk/reward ratio isn't even on the charts..........

I watched a bit of his film (free on youtube by the way) last night. His dad straight up said he started becoming a crazy amateur dad when Axell was killing it when he was in C class. When it was time to move to B/A classes, it started getting way too serious and the riding/training made him not enjoy riding as much. A few people in the film also mentioned he's a cool relaxed guy and maybe didn't have the killer instinct/aggression to be a top racer. Then the opportunity to make money freeriding presented itself, and he went that route.

Now he makes money in a way he enjoys. Sounds like a win to me?

Do a simple search... Here he is doing a stoppie to front flip in 2018, plenty of videos of him learning to backflip with twitch and taka.

In Supercross he wouldn't be too shabby. For example he won a race against Soubeyras and some other international professionals a few years back. But let me draw the equation with Ken Block. He very skilled but when he raced those few WRC races he didn't do too well.

Well said. I’ve raced all of those classes you just mentioned and none of them were easy. Qualifying is one thing. Doing well there is incredibly difficult to say the least.

I hate to tell ppl this and even myself I'm not a huge fan that these guys with instragram bangers make so much money but axell makes more money then every factory rider except for the top 5 guys. He bringing home with everything around 1 million. Yes it's hard to believe but he does such a good job at marketing. I have cousins and friends that know axell but dont have a clue who barcia, musquin, Osbourne, anderson are. This generations is all about social media. I took a group to st louis supercross and they rather stay in the pits then watch the race. It's hard for us fans to understand but the sad truth is that girls and young casual fans like the wheelies, whips, and skills of axell more then racing

He's the star of YouTube videos that get millions of views. Has 1 Million engaged followers on Instagram. He's been the face of A LOT of big time Monster campaigns over the years. He's got a ton of prime time TV exposure doing the quarter pipe thing.

He might not do it every year, but I'm confident he's had years he made a million (or more). If you doubt that, well that's fine, you just don't understand how marketing works in the modern world and that's fine too.

If I had the choice to be paid to be a racer or a freerider, I would chose Freerider every time.
I love racing, but the work required to compete at the highest level is insane, you can be a great freerider and never have to go cycling, huge gym sessions etc.
Just hanging out with friends and riding, sounds like the ultimate dream to me!

I think my comment was taken wrong. Nothing about him. It's the curse of the C class. If you look back, you have to go to McGrath to find someone who won a C class Championship a LL and did anything in the Pros. Lots of reasons, but just crazy how many C class Champs quit once they get to be, or Pro Sport.
McGrath won a C class title... He was kinda good after that...
Cameron McAdoo got last so they blacked out the results... Ram It!
Bloss won and led to a heat race win this year...
Robin got 36th... i wonder if he crashed or didn't have his Ratio Rite for this race...
Kyle Chisholm must have dropped down for this race in 5th place (saw Cody tear his knee up in Houston)
SOMEONE HIT CAPS LOCK FOR SHELBY PETERSON IN 10TH....

Axel is cool as shit and fun to watch. He's found his niche. Something we all strive to do I believe.

My post is as random as the world we live in. Flame on!

He’s nuts. Remember when he almost took his head off on a steel beam? Guy could get competitive quick. But does he want to live that life of misery? Nah.

I knew MC,s 125 c mod title would come up. In the 3rd moto name the rider that best MC, taking 1st. Hint nobody ever heard of him, racing again. His moto scores are 12,2,1

Ok times up. Tommy Blitz jr. from doraville Ga. Atlanta area I believe. Funny he gets to say his whole life, that he beat McGrath the last time he raced C class. MC. Was an expert shortly after that.
