I think you mean the precautions the Utah Sports Commision put in place.

The confusing part to me is that they're not allowed near each other within the stadium, walk out of the stadium though and it's mass bro down time. Wanna mountain bike with buddy's in the media or from a different team on Monday/Tuesday, sure go nuts. Wanna stay in share accommodation with 10 of your family members that haven't been tested, have at it. But don't you dare share a socially distant conversation in the pits on Sunday afternoon.

I get that its not Felds rules, or the riders or anything, and im glad they're back finishing the season, i just find it entertaining is all.

I’m to the point of agreeing with your mindset at this point. Events in recent weeks have made it incredibly clear there have been pretty blatant lies around the virus and it’s spread, but to see some people and companies pick and choose which arbitrary rules they follow is pretty entertaining. But I also know the main driver for the companies right now is avoiding potential liability.
Probably all the distancing/mask garbage is for the media exposure. Once outside the camera people probably live a little closer to their convictions.

Unlikely, it sounds crap but they should be reporting to the nearest facility that can accommodate them.

Did they drive to SLC or did they fly in and from where? Scary shit as they would have been in contact with people.

Because someone will aim at his lungs in a block pass attempt. Duh.

Yes. That is the whole point of testing.

Hopefully this rider just arrived in the past few days. If they've been in Utah for a few weeks now but haven't been tested yet because of no reason to enter the stadium what if they've been around other people who have already tested and passed weeks ago? Trace and retest? I thought you only had to retest if you left the state so that means people haven't been getting regular testing, right?

Holy shit that would have been hilarious. He could have even just said he had a fever or felt sick and wanted to keep everybody safe.

Correct. Tested once 48 hours before entering stadium. If they haven't left the state, no re-test, just a temp check at the gate.

I'm curious when he arrived. If he was mountain biking with a group or going out to eat dinner with other riders etc there could be others who now have it but haven't been retested to confirm. Or his gf hanging out with other gf's, etc. If he didn't arrive in the last 48 hours this is an interesting situation.

It would be interesting to do some contact tracing for sure. As was posted above, Utah is blowing up in the number of cases and hospitalizations. Much like every state that started opening up around Memorial Day. Which was how long ago?

Oh yeah, about two weeks ago. Same as the incubation period...

The increases could be just that there is more and more testing going on everywhere.

Salt Lake County Public Health Department nurse talks about what procedures are followed after testing positive including contact tracing.

Contact tracing: What it looks like

Within 24 hours of a positive test, contact tracers reach out to a patient, then trace back two days before symptoms first appeared. They use calendars, social media — anything that can jog a memory. They gather phone numbers, email and physical addresses to track down contacts.

All of that can take hours. Although each person identified typically has seven or eight contacts, they also can have as many as 100. Co-investigators then interview those contacts to see if they have symptoms and need to be tested.

Please note I also said hospitalizations. Those are the numbers that need to be paid attention. E.R.'s around the country are filling up quickly.

Good thing the U.S.C. and FELD got this going when they did.

It's been scaled back in Texas from about 45k-50k per day to about 25k-30k per day and we're on a uptick and breaking daily records. Last week Abbott went from 25% to 50% reopening before the statistical results from reopening were finished and we're only second to California in daily confirmed cases. We're just fucking ourselves because we're trigger happy.

If you're asymptomatic you don't have symptoms so going back 2 days before symptoms appeared is impossible.

I don't think trigger happy is the right way to say it. We have millions and millions of people out of work and millions of small businesses either ruined or on the verge of it.

There is a great cost to that. The people that still have a job and are getting paid just can't relate one bit to the hardship this is causing.

Wouldn't matter if they opened up or not with all those protests going on.

Yeah, those of us out of work are paying the price. My industry shut down 3 months ago and we are close to going back to work starting towards the end of July, but not if the numbers/hospitalizations spike like crazy.

And yes, this applies to the outdoors as well. If the states where they are planning on racing have crazy spikes, kiss that plan goodbye.

Not going to argue that at all, because yeah, there will be issues that arise from the protests. We will see in two weeks.

Fact is the MAJORITY by far of "covid deaths" are in the 60+ group - and almost HALF of those in that 60+ group are in nursing homes and care facilities, aka "hotspots".

Protect the elderly or compromised, let everyone else get back to work. The REAL shit show is the poor handling of this by our "leaders". Listening to flawed initial data and political doctors, not the epidemiologists that do their work in the trenches.

When this is finally over, we are going to look like idiots for shutting down the economy and bankrupting thousands and thousands of small businesses.

Even the WHO can't get out of their own way. Contradict themselves at every step.

Sadly, we can't build up immunity hiding from this. I certainly don't want to sacrifice any of my family but this thing is going to take forever to run it's course. It's going to be around for a while.

The protests started a few days after Memorial Day. Remember, Floyd died on Memorial Day. From someone that’s actively working and doing it safely, the issue isn’t from opening up most businesses. It’s being in large crowds or in close quarters. Most business that I go into all have safety requirement simple red that greatly prevent the transmission. It’s the going out to bars (not keeping distance), large crowds, and nursing homes. Had we as a country done better protecting nursing homes and the elderly, the survival rate in our country would have gone up exponentially.
