1. This thread WAS about Seattle SX not Covid-19 - not anymore.
2. Proof that we as a country can't find common ground on anything. HAHAHA
3. We're a two camp country with a "your side is clearly wrong and stupid" problem:
Examples:
Covid-19 is deadly (The sky is falling, lets sell out Target of hand sanitizer/ cleaners...and Toilet paper?...get that goddamn soap outta here.)
Covid-19 is no big deal (Hey man, this podcast I listen to said its no big deal and I listen to everything from said podcast because I don't have time to do actual research.)

How about we agree that this is a virus, seems to be spreading quickly, and we need to UP our hand-washing game. No need to panic people. Still WAAAAAAY too early to start throwing around comparisons and stats. We don't have enough information to make these claims.

Sorry this makes too much sense... feel free to carry on with the typical nonsense here in the trailer park.

Time to bring out the bears and/or send this puppy to the dumbgeon.

Here is a graph about mortality rate in age groups. Of course this is the Chinese CDC . In the grand scheme of things it is the older people that have the highest mortality rate, and the mortality rate goes down to less than 1/2 of 1 percent if you are under age 50.

I feel like all the people supporting that corona is dangerous are the ones in the not sky is falling category. It's the other side that likes to project that. If everyone follow the precautions, stays home when they're sick, and if you're an at risk individual avoid flying and large audiences this can be handled. Which is generally smart even for normal flu seasons. And yes some people will freak out and take things too far, media can sensationalize, but it is important to present the dangers.

Yes, older people (and possibly infants) are at greater risk. However, all ages can carry (and spread) the virus. So it would still be a good idea to limit the spread, so we don't kill our parents and grandparents.

Also, the mortality rate for all other ages appears to be at least twice that of the common influenza.

It will be a heck of a lot easier to try to limit the spread of the virus when it is only affecting thousands of people, than if it starts affecting millions of people. But the trick is to try to limit it, without ruining the economy.

Please don't attempt to calm people prone to panic. They live for this shit regardless of reality. Chicken Littles have been screaming insanity since the beginning of time. The media has also been fueling the fire of these supposed pandemics for decades. It's unethical and immoral.

i guess feld would cancel over no fans, as i presume the TV money for one race would not pay the bills, my guess is their is also a monster truck event in the same stadium the week before or after so both may just be cancelled,

I'm no vaccine expert and I doubt your qualifications to be one either (though I appreciate you being curious and providing citations)—but I wasn't even commenting on that.

Back on topic: unlike F1, the Seattle supercross isn't beholden to CenturyLink Field since SX tracks are build in a couple days and can be held anywhere. So, like a few others have said, maybe just relocate rather than cancel?

The idea is to keep these deaths at only a fraction, because it actually appears to be MORE dangerous than the flu.

Dangerous is a vague term, of course. I would consider a nuclear warhead more dangerous than a little Marlin .22, even though more people have probably died in the last 20 years from the Marlin .22 than a nuclear warhead. There's a reason why you don't allow everyone to walk into Walmart and buy a nuclear warhead but you can buy a .22.

Because the one that has actually killed the fewer number of people is exponentially in danger.

Also, not sure if you're referring to me or your previous belief, but I never said anything about vaccines being all benefit and no risk.

I find reading opposing viewpoints very beneficial. When it's more than sheep sounds, of course.

Regardless what it is or isn’t doing in comparison to the common flu, it is adding to the problem. I will say over the past week or two that the numbers are going up for both people testing positive and death counts. 136 cases and 18 deaths as of today in Washington. Regardless of it being mostly elderly, what do you figure the percentages of deaths are with those numbers?

We 100% do not want to be a part of the fear peddling I feel that is always an issue with the mainstream media, but felt the Seattle SX might be the first SX to feel the effects of the virus in a real way. I live outside of Portland, Oregon, and for the last couple of weeks have been hearing about business' asking workers to work from home and a myriad of major events getting canceled or postponed.

Two college basketball teams pulled the Seattle game off their road schedule and Emerald City Comic Con got postponed. As far as Century Link goes, a vendor that worked an XFL game at the stadium tested positive for Coronavirus and the Sounders (Seattle's MLS Champion Soccer team) said they were monitoring the situation and would possibly be making some adjustments (that's paraphrased). Last I checked, though, nothing on Century Link's schedule has been canceled.

I updated the article yesterday and quoted Governor Jay Inslee saying “We are looking at extending what are voluntary decisions right now. And we’ve asked a whole host of communities to consider whether you really need to have your events right now, and they are being canceled."

I received a call at 6am this morning from the Reno VA canceling my 8am yearly checkup appointment and was told they closed the doors to non emergency vets. Sounds like it's getting to be kind of a big deal here.
