What are you guys torquing the oil drain plug to? I go mine at the 89 in lbs which I think is about 10nm. I replace the crush washer every time and most of the time I leak a little oil..... what are you guys doing?
I just tighten it by feel. 125 hours and I’ve never replaced the crush washer and never had a leak.

I replace my drain bolt and crush washer every couple changes they are cheap and make me feel better. I'm putting new bolts in the filter cover too, one of mine is slightly warped, and replacing it helps me sleep better.

I don't even have a Kawi currently, but there is a good chance this will be my next bike. I love this thread because it's filled with ideas and allows me to research the bike. I wish more models had this type of thread.

This thread is long, but Spydee's Sheep Shack puts it to shame. (RIP RonRonMX.)

Why would you want to remove it? Never heard any issues.

I usually buy from my buddy who's a dealer. I haven't looked into the cost yet but the apex is still 3 rows of teeth. I have been considering the 2 rows so less dirt packs in.

I got the apex and they're crazy sharp. Also the ti brackets have a tighter clearance so the foot peg can't wobble like oem.

I wish there was a thread this awesome for the KX250F. Seems like 80% of vital is on a 450.

I just got my Apex pegs today as well. I stabbed my finger just trying to take one of them out of the box. Irrationally pissed off LOL.

Jealous of those mounts!

Just picked up my 2020 450.. coming off a 2017 kx450.

I was 200lbs when I bought mine. Went with .52 in each and 310mm fork oil. I dropped to 194lbs now a little stiff, was going to drop to .52 in one fork for a .51 overall but think I’ll adjust.

thanks .. so I think the one .52 spring with some oil maybe the way to go. Worth breaking in the stock forks before I change out the one spring and oil?

hey stax - congrats! just ride it first. i would recommend going to a .52 in one leg for starters. then if u want a little more support, add 10ml of oil to each leg from the air bleed screw at the top. i would ride totally stock first though to get a feel for where they are at and what you want.

I would agree with datkin128. I changed the fork oil after 8 hrs and did the springs and agree that changing 1 spring and add oil would have been the better process.

Stopped at my dealer yesterday to grab some stuff, man did that 2020 KX450 catch my eye. The stock exhaust looks fine in person IMO. Not sure why it looks so bad in photos. Are you guys with 2020's breaking the exhaust mount or was that only an issue on the 19's? I broke my exhaust mount on my 2015 CRF450 so it's not like it's an issue specific to Kawasaki.

Don't those super-sharp foot pegs just absolutely shred your boot soles? What kind of boot life-span are you guys getting?

Not really I had 2 years on my last tech 10s and the sole started to come unglued. That's a myth your boot slides less probably lasts longer.

Yeah this is true, my Tech 7s are hardly beat up at all from my Ti Pro Pegs which are also sharp as hell. I think that logic is correct, the less slip, the less wear. I need a little more slip, I'll be fine with the wear Smile
