Webb's pass on Kenny was legit, and even Kenny said so. He damn sure didn't look happy in the post race interview, but I give him credit for sucking it up and calling it what is was...a last turn points pass. There was only one line, and two people wanted it.

What is Ken supposed to say? It was a pinball pass, I just watched it again and Cooper straight up gassed into the side of him. Even though Ken landed long he got back to the inside and Cooper just went for the bounce pass. I don't like it. Roczen got injured. It's the 5th race of a long season.

Was more aggressive than a usual Kenny pass, I still fell if the bike had not been stood up so suddenly it would have been a clean no contact pass.
Was not like he aimed to hit him or shove his front wheel in. Just an aggressive pass gone horribly wrong.

It wasn't very aggressive at all as far as taking him out. Roczen left plenty of room for no contact he just screwed up and stood it up into Cooper. Cooper's pass the corner before was pretty aggressive though.

Every point counts and they are all in it to win it. From race one. Kenny rode well and fair, but so did Webb.

All this talk about Tomac and Roczen riding with flawless style and impeccable grace, they're like two glorious unicorns who shit rainbows between motos. It's all is a bit thick when there's ample video evidence to the contrary that all of us have seen ON THIS VERY SITE. Good God. Newsflash: Supercross has a fundamental flaw which is that the tracks are too narrow, short, and jump-filled for riders to easily pass, thus they must, on occasion, force their way past another rider in a corner; and no one who's raced Supercross with any success has avoided doing this. Not only that, but if, say, "Tomac The Glorious Unicorn" DOESN'T force a pass, people ON THIS VERY SITE light their hair on fire for him being too passive and encourage him to grow a set and start knocking people around. If you love irony, my friends, you've found the thread of a lifetime.

Where is this "ample" evidence you speak of? I'd like to see Roczen or Tomac pinballing their way through some passes. With their long, illustrious careers there must be several you can show us FROM THIS VERY SITE. Show us where they slam someone.

I agree the tracks are tight but it's up to the riders how they want to race. I don't remember Dungey pulling those moves.

Regarding people wanting Tomac to throw his weight around, it's because he races clean and sometimes you want him to pay someone back.

I agree that Kroc is one of the cleanest riders in SX. Tomac did try to pinball Dungey several times at the finals in Vegas a few years ago. I thought he was going to clean Ryan out several times but somehow he stayed up and won the Championship!

Ezra lusk racing with a plated arm two weeks after surgery.
Factory Honda days. Not sure it is when he got taken out in practice at Florida SX or elsewhere but for sure Lusk was an animal.

There is no such rule.
Reed racing SX with a messed up shoulder and broken ribs was questionable but wasn't against the rules as you say.

I don't know why this is even a point of discussion. Last corner pass in a main event for a 4 point swing in a tight points race, neither rider went down, and a successful pass. Just hard, aggressive racing for a position gain. Kenny and Eli have the most speed this season, hands down. Webb isn't on their level right now and he's doing anything he can to make up points and capitalizes on mistakes. If you rewatch the race, Kenny had a 2.5 second lead on Webb with a half lap to go. He either laid up thinking he had it in the bag, or he made a mistake while Coop was charging all the way to the end. Bottom line is, you gotta finish.

You have 3 tiers of speed at the moment: 1) Kenny and Eli 2) Webb, Anderson, Barcia, AC, Baggett, and Osborne 3) Everybody else in the main

In professional sports, athletes perform while injured all the time. Kenny will be fine.

I’d almost be willing to bet no one would say a word about Webb’s pass if it was on someone other than Kenny. Obviously no one wants to see Roczen hurt but this is racing and shit happens. If Webb did this to Musquin for example I don’t think anyone would be upset. Just my opinion, though.

I would like to see Ken and Eli in that exact situation. They seem to have respect for each other, and neither wants an injury, I doubt either would pull the trigger. I think that's really cool.
Looking forward to the nationals.

That’s the truth. Roczen is the most popular rider by a long ways in SX. Webb is not close to that status. While Webb’s pass on Roczen is the kind of sporting spectacle that endears SX to the fans of the sport the fanboys of Roczen can’t see past their adulation to appreciate competitive racing.

Coper Webb Interview in Oakland.

It's just one of those deals where it's two riders at an elite level who would almost rather lose an arm [nearly literal in this case] than to let the other one pass them. I talked to Cooper about the pass after the race in this interview from Oakland.

Cooper has a thoughtful pause before answering and he tries to do his best to explain it how he saw it, but the bottom line is when you have two guys at that level that hate losing to each other as much as these two do and they end up near one another in the last turn for a podium spot or win, I think there's going to be contact no matter how hard they "try to keep it clean".

We need this Cooper Webb in the series, though. I love the NC brash confident attitude Cooper brings to every gate drop when he's winning and a title fight and I hope Oakland is a catalyst to seeing more of that in '20. With a healthier Kenny that knows he can win again, a more consistent Tomac, and confident Webb, this could get really good.

Just think Kenny passes without contact what a concept. Didn’t like Webb before like him even less now if that’s possible. I hope Kenny puts that half pint on the cheap seats or the whoops are big and he won’t even have to worry about Webb
Ya because that worked out so well last time. He tried failed miserably and he almost lost an arm! Webb will beat him again this year hate to break your heart but Webb is a lot faster in Supercross. Plus he just tears all the confidence right out of Roczen. Kenny lost 4 seconds to him in a lap and he was running the same pace as he was all night his segment times were all within a second of the rest until Webb came up alongside him the first time. So far Webb has proved to be the better rider in the 450 class and Kenny has gotten into Webb just as much so don't use that as an excuse.
Cheers Smile

Webb had the Flu and a chest infection you try just going for a jog with that. He proved it last year the class was just as stacked Anderson was the only one missing and he beat everyone straight up no excuses. He just showed being healthy he could run a faster pace at the end of the race in Oakland had there been a few more laps he probably would have gotten Tomac. If Webb could fix his issue with the long whoops or maybe if KTM could he would be hands down the fastest guy out there. I dont care about qualifying times either all that matters is how fast you can go from lap 10 on and thats when Webb gets started! How can you put Kenny and Eli in Tier 1 when Ken didn't even win a Race last year and Webb beat Tomac straight up numerous times. who won the championship a tier 2 rider that makes no sense.
Cheers

I tend to think the first ten laps matter quite a bit as well. I mean had Webb had a better first ten laps of of the race he may have won and wouldn't have needed those hypothetical extra laps you speak of.

Dungey with his experience had to now Stewart was going make a pass that corner.

McGrath raced with a broken leg in one of his Peak Honda seasons if I’m not mistaken.

They would have done the same damn thing for the 4 point swing. Webb went in with a purpose and Ken unfortunately took the brunt . BFD.

I don’t think he would have gotten Tomac. Pushing the pace Vs Tomac cruising the last couple. I’m sure tomac had more in the tank for those few more if need be.

All Roczen's fault.

He gave up a nice lead to Webb in the last lap and then gave Webb the inside line.

I'm hoping a third times a charm and Roczen realizes he can't give Webb an inch, especially going into the last corner.

Webb is a pit bull that never gives up right up to the checkered flag, you can't get complacent with this guy.

Agreed. I was just making a point to him because he said the only thing that matters is how fast one can go after lap 10 which obviously isn't true at all.
