When I heard that Cooper had an infection in his chest ( kind settled there ) It sounded exactly like what I just got over. It ruined my Christmas and New years , all the way into the first week of January. Took over 2 weeks to clear my lungs. And the body aches that came along with it , terrible. It effing tricked me the 1st week , and I thought I was getting better for like 2 days.....then BAM!! It came back and settled in my chest. So glad to be over this shit....finally!

I had something like that for the whole month of October. Deep chest cold and a crazy cough
I do think it will have an effect. Cooper seems to be effected for sure.

Can't imagine having to ride/race with it. Cooper already had his bad result, is Barcia next? Who will be after that? If the championship comes down to a few points the flu could be the decider.

My flu symptoms have been similar to Jeffro's. Started with a lot of coughing but no other symptoms. Then terrible body aches and a fever. Now a dry, painful cough and lungs feel like they are scorched and struggling for air. Brutal stuff for a professional athlete.

Will the stuff a guy has to take to feel better from the flu make them fail a drug test for the FIM?

so,if i were to think and act like a conspiracy theory advocate. it would be as follows;
team x, would hire or give random sick sx fans free pit passes ,with an agreement to be in all the title contenders autograph lines and selfies with. once the sickos met quota of autographs/selfies,team x agent reimburse them the pit pass event entry $. sounds asinine i know.

Holy shit- I'm on day 8 or 9 of some weird infection. Absolutely miserable. I'm amazed anybody could ride with anything remotely like this. I could barely type on my computer today, but feel better after getting on antibiotics. Coughing every few seconds for 8 days can start to make you crazy.

My work shuts down for 2 weeks during Christmas and the same thing happened to me I got sick the Monday before Christmas and it's now going on the 3rd week of January and I think I'm finally over this crap. During this time I've had 2 separate relapses putting me down hard, any of these guys that race supercross that get this flu it will probably ruin their season

I feel for you Ron , and you other's that have had to deal with it. If I remember right , I got sick on that exact day too ( Two days before Christmas ). I've felt pretty much back to normal for about a week , but still have the " burnt lungs " feeling a bit. No body aches or anything like that , just some coughing because my lungs feel so dry. Been trying to stay out of the weather this past week too , as I really don't want a relapse of whatever this was. As far as Flu's go......this was a real nasty one.

On last weeks Main Event Moro podcast, Daniel had caught it too. He sounded rough. Must’ve been something in the water in Anaheim!

The cough is the shittiest part about it. as it lingers for a long time im 6 weeks removed from this one and i still have some weird ass cough.

Just sitting here thinking about how many people these guys have all been in contact with between dealer shows and autograph signings. This is how outbreaks happen. I might pass on Anaheim 2. Take your vitamins and wash your hands people!

Wondering how many of you (and them) took the flu shots and then got the creepin crud? IMO, let the body do it's job without being poisoned.

In the past I have used mega doses of vitamin C and echinacea to beat it down when it gets on me.

I got it and didn't take a flu shot, not sure about anyone else. Decent question though I have wondered that also.

I’ve been lucky out of the past ten years no flu or flu shot ever, luck ran out Christmas Day had to spend all day with a sick nephew and it started with the realy bad headache and you know. Then came the coughing. Tried to power through it at work only missed one day off work because I was so exhausted I couldn’t move. I don’t take antibiotics unless I’m on my death bed. I almost tapped out and called the doctor but I never did. Still have a weird cough every now and again but thank God it’s over I hope

My family of 5 has had 2 nasty bugs in a row. If it's the same thing idk how they can ride even to a 12th place finish.

I got the flu shot and my case seems worlds better than most of the other people who got sick responding in this thread. I had a headache and fever for 1 day, followed by 1 week of the cough. I'm over it now other than a slight runny nose. My 3 year old also got the flu shot, he had a 102 degree fever for 1 night. Still has the cough and runny
nose going on about 1.5 weeks, but it doesn't seem to faze him except when we make him stop playing to blow his nose. It's like trimming a cats claws...

Wife and I both got it Monday before Christmas. Ruined the holiday for us. My fever was gone by the following Saturday, I rode Monday (7 days later) and and felt like I was run over by a truck. She's still coughing, even after a course of antibiotics.

Not sure how these guys can race 20+1 but mad respect for doing it and finishing.

I had the flu shot and the pneumonia shot (the pneumonia shot covers 15-20 viruses)

My wife is getting over it and I haven’t got it yet!

Barcia seems to get the flu (he is sick rider overall even when healthy) and he rides Yamaha.

Vitards have proved times and times again that Yamaha is a pig by scientifically comparing the JPEGs of side profile of YZ450 with the side profile of a pig...

Does it mean that Barcia got infected with swine flu?

Should the general public be worried about the following blue pandemic?

For the guys that are dealing with the flu, have you gotten your flu shot this year? I started getting flu shots five or six years ago, and haven’t had the flu since then. I wonder if the racers are getting flu shots. Seems like a no brainer for someone that spends as much time in the air as they do.
