Supercrosslive TV Auto Renewed and Refusing to Refund

Is there any data to support your claim that most people want auto-renew?

If the views expressed on this thread are anything to go by, most people clearly don't.

Dunno how it works in the US but auto-renew is fine when there is there is informed consent. A notification buried somewhere in an email doesn't meet that requirement in UK (and EU) consumer contract law and is easily challenged in courts.

Now you've done it. You're gonna get tarred and feathered bro. Clearly, it's in place to bankrupt every breathing Vitard.

I don't think the views expressed by 20 angry dudes on a chat board is a very good sample either, for the record.

Don't ask me how, but it happens.
Yikes! That's kind of scary in itself. Looked it up and this short article talks about it.

Several credit card companies/banks offer "virtual credit cards" that you can use with your actual credit card. Citi, for example has this. You login to online banking, use the generate virtual card number option, and can select the dollar amount that it is good for and the time in months.

Whenever I signup for something that I'm concerned about auto renewal on, I use this and set the amount of the card for the dollar amount of signup and set the duration for 2 months (which is the minimum time). If they try to auto renew a year or whatever later, that card simply doesn't exist.

Right!

I’m just going off of what I know about everything else. Do you want to have to approve every month your Sirius radio payment?

Or google space .99 cent charge?

This is how it would go with me.

I forget to renew, I’m sitting in front of the tv with 5 friends, realize I didn’t renew, re sign up and can’t watch it till the next day.

It's funny how the same person that doesn't want it to auto renew wants it to auto cancel Woohoo

Not sure what you mean by 'either' when this thread is the only sample we've got.

Fuck Feld, that is a BS move. Please let me know if anyone of you are able to get a refund.

Ha, that’s funny right there!

Also I just realized that a lot of people live week to week and maybe have to budget these things in their lives! Is that the issue? Because I haven’t lived on a budget for the last 25 years.

What really makes it slime ball is their refusal to cancel and refund your money when the races haven't even started yet.

Hate to break it to people like you, but literally every monthly/yearly service provider does it. XM, Hulu, WWE, MLB, NFL.... So, you might as well accept it as part of the game.
yeah but most all of your oneliners are slimeballish.

so wear the shit or change your style.

People want technology as convenient as their comprehension of it. It's not catering to the individual. Most of us see auto-renew as a convenience bro.

I tried to get a refund from Motoworld tv,
They did not even respond to my many emails, pricks.
In the end I cancelled my card.

Yup Supercrosslive TV auto renew got me too, nearly $200 Aussie dollars.
I know there's plenty of complaining about the NBC app, but you guys in the states don't know how lucky you are to have it vs international options.

FWIW I did get a notice e-mail that my account would auto-renew, about 3-4 weeks before the date. Maybe check your spam/junk folders in case it ended up there.

I renewed. I was going to use a VPN and use the NBC Gold pkg for SX, but I usually end up away from home for a couple of weekends, and don't always have the best wifi when I'm on the road so adding the complexity of the VPN just slows the connections down even more. I hate how much Feld charges for the SX International, but it did work pretty well last year (much better than 2018).

I disagree.. when 20 people bother typing obviously there’s a large percentage of crew who got auto renewed that weren’t happy.. and also not aware of the price increase.
Small samples of opinions are often used in poles to get a general idea ..

Thanks for this heads up reminder... I just turned my auto-renew off for NBC Gold... I 100% intend on buying the package again; but on my own terms. $89.99 for the entire SX & MX season was a no brainer... but wont be surprised at all if they increase the price of admission this year
You took the words right out of my mouth. I read the first post, logged into my account and I had already turned off the auto-renew when I bought it in January.

Just in case they decide to get sleazy, I deleted my credit card info from the account too.
Like you, I enjoyed the service and will probably buy it again in January if the same offer is available.

Opt-out auto renew is such a sleazy deal.

Auto-renew isn't the issue for me, it's the unauthorized price increase that is the issue. I'm all for the same price because we will get the same coverage issues.

You can’t be serious...

Unless I wanted something to automatically renew as a convenience for me, no fucking way let those asshats get away with that shit.

Raising the price, without me agreeing to the new price would be icing on the cake. Not cool !

Then they refuse to refund, after basically scamming you, by billing you without your consent ??

And you think this is OK ? Pffffftttt.....

At this point I honestly can't tell if those guys are joking or if they're so disconnected from most people's reality that they honestly can't fathom why people are mad about this. I can't wait until the day I'm so well off that I don't care if someone charges my credit card over $100 without asking me, must be absolutely fantastic.

Most magazine subscriptions now do the same thing. Welcome to the new definition of "customer service".

I will second the comment on the ability of merchants to now move the charges to a new credit card. All in the very small print of your contract.

It's unfortunate that 2 sides of a point can never have productive dialogue on here without people getting bent out of shape.

I see auto renew as a convenience. If you don't, it doesn't affect me at all. My point is, it's probably not going away. It's done by everyone and has been for years. If you don't want it, just go into the app and opt-out.

I just think Auto renew should not be a default setting and should be bold notification if it is.

Give the user a fair chance to decide yes or no.

making the notification small or hidden and saying they sent an email that most say they didn't get is not okay to me.

My cable charges me $7.50 a month for espn and I never even watch espn, automatically they hit me on my bill every month.....
