Trippy, i was just reading his IG yesterday and he talked about not being able to sleep at night because of shoulder pain, from a career in moto. Thats what i am going through now really bad, but its from 35 years in this fucking chair.
Sending positive vibes. Get well soon Micky!
Edit: *blind, not bling
Hope he'll end up OK.
In my thoughts and sending positive vibes.
I loved watching him wax the open pro class as a skinny kid on a Maico at Thur OCIR races.
Healing vibes...
Everyone is asking about Micky, this is what his family sent me. Message is from his mom.
‘Yesterday Micky had a bad crash on his bicycle as many of you know. He was riding on the bike trail with 2 good friends Steve and David Bailey when the front wheel jerked right throwing him over the bars where he landed on his head. He was unconscious for at lease 10 minutes or more. Steve held his head and another cyclist called for help. Thank you Steve and David. Wonderful friends. Along with Jeff Ward they came to the hospital also and Ron Calloway retrieved the bike and called the family. Micky was banged up but the head injury is the worst. He is sedated to keep him calm and resting. We don’t know how long this will be like this but your messages for prayers and support are wonderful and so appreciated. The nurse explained his condition as that 1 to 15 scale we who are fine are a 15 Micky is a 13 and a coma would be a 3. We are hopeful. Right now we are letting him do the work with Gods help. Thank you and please keep praying.’
They also said his back and ribs are broken. He is sedated to keep him from moving around, I believe to help his back and ribs. His brain is or was bleeding in three spots. I will update this post if I hear anything.
Pit Row
"Micky and I and our friend Steve Weidler were 3 miles into a ride and Micky was on his TT bike and I was about 30 feet behind admiring how he looked when he seemed to reach up perhaps to get off those bars and immediately the front wheel turned left and he no time to sort it out. He hit on his right side, head last and about 20-21mph and skidded to a stop knocked out. It was so sudden, shocking and horrible. Steve was on him right away as were a couple riders, one who is a first responder and another who called 911. Micky was out a good 5 minutes, maybe even 10
"He never could respond with his name or make sense."
Just curious, was this a Bicycle or Motorcycle accident?
Best to him and his family.
Hi Folks,
Without getting into too many details, Micky was on his TT bike, zooming along on the bike trails in Yorba Linda. At the exact moment he removed his hand to make a handlebar adjustment he hit something and his front wheel went out from under him. We are forever grateful for his riding partners David Bailey and Steve Weidler who cared for him on the scene until the ambulance arrived. Micky has three frontal lobe contusions and two of the three contusions have stopped bleeding. He will remain in ICU until the third one stops bleeding and they feel he is OK to release from intensive care. There are many factors involved for that, but on the bright side, he is breathing on his own, with good vitals, and he does not (afterall) have any fractures in his spine. He has road rash on every limb and some broken ribs, which are clearly very minor things in the big picture. I have not seen him awake yet and am happy to report that he is resting deeply due to the amazing 24 hr team care he is receiving. His main trauma nurse’s own father had a similar accident training for Ironman. She’s a gift. It’s funny how this bike life keeps bringing more people together. Anyway, she has been very informative and caring. They only wake him to administer medications so that his brain stays calm. We hope he will be ready for an MRI soon but it needs to happen when he’s not as aggravated and confused when awake which is also to be expected this soon. So for now, we wait, we trust, and we believe.
I’m speaking on behalf of Micky and his family when I say we thank you for all the love and concern. I’m not sure how it’s possible to feel so loved and so heartbroken at the same time, but that’s the case indeed. Will post more updates soon. Please expect to see a fundraiser page once I know more about what the long haul looks like. By the way, I have never been so happy to hear him snore! ❤️
Does anyone have a picture of him back in the late '70s / early '80s wearing Scott goggles with the Scott plastic facemask, and on that mask he had this big nose and mouth sticker on it? I remember that thing to this day, thought it was the funniest / coolest thing I'd ever seen!
Heal quickly champ, there are many people pulling for you.
